Someone has tripped the magical alarms in the Element Temple. When you and the other monks arrive on the scene, you know you have a disaster on your hands. Four young apprentices broke into the temples inner chamber to steal the sacred element crystals. But when the alarm went off they panicked, and each of them swallowed a crystal. Can you determine who ate which crystal? Alex Gendler shows how. Lesson by Alex Gendler, directed by Artrake Studio. This riddle is adapted from a puzzle that originally appeared in Puzzles for Pleasure, by E. R. Emmet

why dont you just ask each of them about their gender, if they lie, they are either fire or air, if they tell the truth, they are earth or water. then you can just ask the truth people about their crystal, and then we would know who would have fire and air because rikku, the one who ate the earth crystal, said bella ate the fire crystal so then we would know who would have the air crystal
reply

Sorry but just because Sumi said Rikku has the water crystal does not give any indication at all who has the earth crystal, therefore making the statement that Rikku has the earth stone is just confusing which just makes the rest of the video confusing, sorry but this riddle is not one of your better ones Ted-Ed.

What I noticed that let me solve this: Rikku telling the truth means that Bella is lying which means that Jonah is telling the truth (and the converse also applies. I did my trial and error off of that, and got the same answer.
Also, those eggs. those beautiful eggs.

In truth and lie riddles, where one person speaks truth and other lies, i simply assume we must ask each one of them what is 2 + 2 =? If one says 4, which is true, he is truth one and other is lying. Thats my logic

For the first time in a long time, the ted Ed audience is less educational nerds and more people from a fandom so dedicated that theyre watching a math video

I have a better idea, cut open kids stomach and pull crystals out of them this way, there I solve the riddle for you, your welcome
reply

Did anyone else notice the eggs from the egg drop riddle on the element chambers? I guess you could say they were a fun easter egg
reply

You can also deduce that Sumi can not have the water crystal because if she did she would be unable to lie about having it.
