To be honest, I think this video is taking a bit of a leap. It may be true that political identities make it hard for people to analyze facts correctly, but I dont really think that matters. Voters are not supposed to analyze facts and data to form an educated view of each issue: that would be a ridiculously inefficient system. People dont have time for that. Many dont have the education. Its just unrealistic. Instead, you vote based on how you feel: if you want a change, if a candidate speaks to you, or not. POLITICIANS then have to look at information and come to conclusions about how to maintain the support of voters. I truly dont see whats wrong with this system.

I like to think that someday fundamentalists will recognize the scientific relationship between the greenhouse effect and global warming and that secularists will appreciate the spiritual reasons for not using abortion as birth control. Thus, the effects of reducing carbon emissions and of increasing contraceptive practices would enhance the quality of life on Earth and help ensure our survival as a species.

Funny how Ted talks use an example involving guns. for a video of partisanship wah wah
How about using another example like
Despite statistics, the world will NOT end in 12 years due to global warming. Correction, 11 years
Lets see if the commentators learned something about using logic before posting.

Partisan news is all over the media and it affects people with strong media preferences greatly. People shouldn't just be quick on taking sides just because of a published one angled view. Sometimes you just have to see things from all angles and know which side is logical. Fact check people!

I know people who will disagree with their spouses, families, friends, coworkers, bosses, neighbours, and God; but will agree with everything the person they've elected into office says and does. I just hope this doesn't continue to worsen

I dont see why people idolize a specific politician and people fight whose better. Can't we just be loyal to our country and think what's logically right and wrong? but no, people fight on whose opinion is much appealing.

One problem with accepting evidence is that it is often propagandized, so people are wary, and believe that they are being manipulated or lied to.

And this is why I am apolitical, seriously both right wingers and left wingers are really just two sides of the same coin.
