Angkor Wat was also part of what could be considered an ancient global empire that ruled for thousands of years. Many of it's building aspects, canals, water delivery, and it's pillars imply common building knowledge that is on par, or even well in advance of what we can do currently. Their pillars to the sun and other deities shows clear evidence that they encountered visitors from lands FAR away. As did the Mayans who my grandmother (was thinking it was her age 88 at the time) said actually had flight. They rode these golden birds who seem to just whish along the skies and that the pyramids were a way for them to navigate along the vast jungles of South America.
So, was it just an old woman's hazy recollection of the stories told her? Or do cities like Angkor Wat, Tikal, Chichen Itza, Machu Picchu, Cairo, the island of Crete, and the underwater stones tell of a much vaster and more advanced and powerful people? People who mastered electricity, lights, flight, astronomy, navigation, and the computer? (Think Antikythera mechanism. We lost so much when the flood, the burning of the Library or Alexandria, and untold other cataclysms, and of course the Dark Ages, that where would be now? If Angkor Wat and other cities were not abandoned? What if Greece or Egypt or Tikal never fell? What if the ancient global empire did not collapse?
Or is it just the old stones and dusty bones that say it all?

Makes you really sit back and realize that huge massive cities that have lived longer than our current civiliations and have died and have been forgotten. It's scary to think we will be next to have been forgotten. it's also scary the gap in history on how we have forgotten these huge civilizations due to history being destroyed. Makes you wonder how we could have lost the history of these forgotten civiliations.

Way older than they want people to believe. History has been rewritten, misplaced and in some cases outright lied about just to fit a time line. Go believe with the group even though it's confusing and makes little to no sense. Or instead read what they call Legends and myths, they make way more sense this which nearly pure guesswork at best.

I have been to Angkor Wat more than one time. Some years ago now so it's good to see this documentary.
Except the subtitles, meaningless nonsense that destroys it all. I have seen the same on MANY Cambodian documentaries/movies. Why i can not understand. For Cambodias sake STOP IT

The reconstruction-model of the city (the reason I tuned in) starts at around 17: 00. I've been living here in Thailand, right next door to Cambodia, for a bit over twenty years. Never had the chance to go see Angkor Wat yet, but now that I'm retired, I just might.
