caligula's actions were justified, he was always evil to begin with. He actually helped the lower class and humiliated the upper class. If someone from his family or senate hadn't poisoned him in the first place he wouldn't have done the things he did. The reason why he is regarded as evil is because of the horrific things he did to the aristocrats of Rome. People only know little things in which he did for the lower class. Which brings to the question, whom was really evil within the story?

Surely there are other comments in this string expressing horror over how Mary touches art in every museum she goes into with so much atmospheric debris on her oily fingers then transferred to the art. Where were the guards? Or, with the name Mary, did she get some special exemption as one born free from grime. Other than her hillbilly hand machinations in museums, she is thoroughly entertaining. Im sure in the classroom she is hands-on.

As odd as it may seem, Caligula was an actual family member in my ancestry. He is the familiar consequence of patrician wealth having a corrupting influence on the benefactors of privilege. The feature was replicated over the centuries of Nobility having achieves sacrifice through effort, only to be squandered by our spoiled children. My ancestry sidestepped his linage and advanced to another direct ancestor-- Marcus Aurelius.

History is written by the victors with that said Epstein was a tool for the Oligarchy of the new world order. Read between the lines government is useless, that is unless your young and poor then you believe their b. s. then you get older and older and vote for less taxes. Than you get even older and realize talk is cheap and even then. Idk Rome will rise again just like the south will.
Ps. Dont tax me bro

Caligula was very misunderstood and demonized. He was an actual victim in power and got killed for it. He helped the people by lowering taxes for the lower class. It wasnt until after he was poisoned and betrayed by his own family and people he was supposed to trust in the senate, he chosen to become a hedonist and pursue many pleasures in life.

At first I thought all the crazy talk was just political mud slinging on Emperor Caligula to promote the next Emperors after his death however after studying this man more he was absolutely a crazy psychopath killer. No ifs and or buts about it! The insanity didnt end either with his relative Nero being just as bad if not worse.

Way too much me time with the camera on the narrator. I could not get through this. Much better documentary productions are available that don't waste time showing a questionably groomed person for this many minutes. She seems narcissistic and opinionated in a bad way.

The US Army destroyed Caligula's big boats and then blamed it on the Germans.
The US Army even bombed Pompeii and then stated that it was a German stronghold. all lies. The winning army lies and the losers are all dead so the liars win in the history books.

First off, I loved this documentary. Well written well narrated. However, the fact that she acknowledged Caligula didn't want to refer to himself as such, and yet she continued to do so is kinda upsetting. Do we not respect the dead? At least in a name?

COH. A recently resurrected term, used by such wannabe, petty tyrants as, in those times, would be tied naked to hay-bales, awaiting the leading -in of
The Donkeys.
A lesson for modern times.
Cohort. hahaha. Best keep that army well paid eh?

In those times, lead was used to give a swet flavor to wine, so, from the 1st emperor of china to the Emperors of Rome, im pretty sure many of them became mentally ill due lead poisoning.
That doesnt take away the horrible thigns they did.

3: 52 I can't help but imagine the long line of cars behind her, looking for a chance to pass.
Maybe it's cuz she looks so much like my mother, and I know how she drives, especially while she's talking

He once gutted a citizen that was stuttering. right in front of me. As he wiped his blade on the dying man's sash he said Don't be sad Mullcrum, he couldn't even speak right, he won't be missed.

Most detailed and well researched documentary I've ever seen. I love it! The narrator lady has really painted a picture with her voice. Need to have more historical docs narrated by Mary.

you fail to mention how often he was raped as a boy by so many soldiers, never daring to mention it to his father or anyone else. so he took it out of everybody when he took power

It is interesting to see the ruins with a guide to tell the story, since one cannot travel there without a vaccine. The converse shoes are cute, but look uncomfortable for walking.

I feel like we can't trust any of this history since so much of the salacious parts are likely propaganda and dramatic stories made up to titillate and destroy reputations.

Living with Caligula sounds a bit like living with Stalin, if you were a Kremlin insider. Except Stalin's murderous dominance lasted more than 25 years.
