I always find it humorous when various experts and ologists say about older societies having a religion of many gods. What do they think all of the Patron Saints are to Christians other than 'lesser gods'. All religions have their various sub-gods, some call them Profits, some Saints, but I think you get my drift. So why do program makers habitually try to belittle older cultures because of their idols of their era in time. Oh silly me, that's because My God is real, yours is just made up. Lucky you for picking the right god out of the millions, you should buy a lottery ticket. I find mans ability to believe in and stake their lives on the make-believe amazing and have spent nearly forty years studying the brain and how it fantasizes things. Then again, if we as a species didn't fantasize, we wouldn't have Hollywood, TV dramas, novels, nursery rhymes, Santa Claus etc-etc-etc, making day to day life very boring without a good yarn to spin or hear. For reference, I must declare I personally don't believe there is any type of Giant Pixie in the sky running things who also warrants any praise or prayers.

Listening to the rhetoric as the narration flowed through the achievements of humans through the millenia, saving the pyramid for last is for me at least, a laughable mistake. Nothing about the advances in known history compare to the craftsmanship of the pyramids, they are outside of the skill level of even builders today. It's no wonder Fletcher said she should stop talking, because no one really knows much of anything about the real history of not only those pyramids, but the network of pyramids that exist all over the world.

I really dont like the fact that they cant really explain why they started farming instead of continuing their hunter gather existance. The doc kinda makes it seem that the nomads due to climate change started grouping around lakes then started to learn how to farm but why wouldn't they keep moving? Isnt farming during climate change so much harder than just finding a new source. How did they get any knowledge for farming because the explaination of they just started is very unsatisfactory.

There is a handsome new book of 224 pages with 185 brilliant color plates titled Sacred Deities of Ancient Egypt that illustrates in illuminating color photographs and detailed text the lives and beliefs of the gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt. Many of the photos of the actual tombs and hieroglyphics have never been reproduced before. The book is available through Fine Arts Press.

If youre an Egyptologist then you know kufu didnt make the pyramids. You know that ancient Egyptians themselves said that the pyramids were there before their people, in which you call Egyptians; got there. The reason why theres not too much different from you is because this story of stolen land and culture and writing true history is exactly what you people do.

I liked this documentary. It feels so incomplete. You pointed out some interesting facts, but this Egyptian history can go so much deeper. Maybe you need a 10-20 hours documentary to try at least get 6000-8000 bc of history. There are alot of facts, you didn't mention and i am thinking you were not allowed to.

It seems to me that some of the carvings are aids to storytelling. I bet they would have told the stories & pointed at the pictures- like what tv is to us today. I bet they told stories of the ancestors for years & it would get embellished through the years, like Batman remakes are to us. :)

okay this was, actually, a very good documentary for explaining some of the astronomy and ecology connection.
the hermetic teaching of time of the floods was the teaching of the begining of our history
and telling of a terrible fate for people of historys past.

Part of the misunderstanding about the monuments at the Giza plateau is their age. They are much older than what we have been told. Another is the purpose of the pyramids. No one was every buried there. They were energy power plants, healing centers and initiation centers.

Maybe Egyptians used the animal statues as decoys and scare crows so to speak. and maybe they believe that one day the dead could be brought back to life. I think its called cyrogenics. I think egyptians are much smarter than we think.

How can she say such misleading words like Pyramid of Geeza being erected 4000 years ago when in fact it is much older and no mummy of pharaohs was found inside. It was not a tomb. Check some other opinions and make a balanced decision

Interesting how there are no wall carvings or paintings in The Great Pyramid like in the other burial chambers. The only evidence of Kufu is a small painting hidden in a vacant area way above the burial chamber. Seems lacking.

What Ive come to think during my reading and research (amateur, of course) is that virtually everything we know of civilization goes back to ancient Egypt. I may be wrong here, but the more I dig, the more I end up in Egypt.

Did she really just say for the first time I'll be piecing it all together? So no one else ever has worked with the evidence and clues etc that exist and worked hypotheses about how it all goes together and what they mean?

Just think, in 1500BC, they were thinking, wow these pyramids are a thousand years old!
When Roman civilians went there on business or as tourists, those pyramids were somewhere around 2, 600 years old.

If that is the kings burial place where are the stories on the walls? Could there be a different explanation? Ive heard that is a possible power plant, does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I was always fascinated by ancient Egypt. I never thought I would be able to go but I finally made a dream come true. The feeling of seeing the Giza pyramids is overwhelming, beautiful.
