I don't understand why titanic is so much publicized in history but not this story! Infact I'd never know of it had I not been researching the titanic! This is absolutely horrible! Why on earth! How can they live with themselves after this, it was on neglectful and the passengers should have been made aware that they were on a ship carrying war explosives! It makes me weep, 35 out of 809 children! I have a 4 year old son and omgoodness even before my son was born a childs death was tragic, after being a mother for 4 years i cant even imagine losing one or even think of the fear a child must gone through during this or any tragic time! There so full of life and innocent, that sence with the young boy left in hallway of a sinking ship afraid to frozen in place while his father being sweept away by a panical swarm breaks my heart, i found my self saying run please run after your father, but he probably thought it was best to say still for his father would return or that he was so frozen in fear h r couldnt move! I would have picked my son up and held him strongly for dear life as im sure that little boys father did before his hamd was ripped out by a paincing crowed. I hopw to never know what that panic would feel like, 18 minutes due to explosive on a passenger liner! Outrage! They never had a chance! It took 3 hours for titanic and 18 mins for this ship! Oh my heart breaks!

errrr well some stuff about the sinking is right but there's also a lot wrong with the sotrytelling and characterisation here. Vanderbilt seems to have been coloured very poorly like a cheap ripoff of the Billy Zane character from Titanic, when from all accounts he was the exact opposite. His mistress is not only fictious but also could not possibly have died in the way depicted as no one was trapped in elevators. Seems clear she was supposed to be loosely based on Rita Jolivet but for some reason they thought it was more interesting to reduce her to a man's kept woman. I get the feeling this was made by very conservative leaning people who didn't approve of Vanderbilt's lifestyle or independent women. This film also portrays the British Navy as mostashe twirling villians in stark contrast to the Germans who seem far more nuanced 3 dimensional, so we aren't exactly going for objectivity here. Overall the story has all the sublety of a sledgehammer to the face.

Thank you, Brilliant to watch, It just shows that being cowards is a trade mark of Britain, if one looks at history during the Anglo Boer War where a cowardly act was done to the Boers, the imprisonment of woman and children in British concentration camps where almost 40 000 died in to win a war even with a rate of 20 to I in Britains favour being 450 000 strong against less than 80 000 Boers, ordanery farmers, they not only let woman and children died but wiped out the existence of the Boer folk, who today suffers in their own country because of the low numbers of their citizens being the minority, too little to vote out a corrupt regime who oppresses them

At the time of the sinking England wanted the USA to aide them. This awful loss of life fired up America to join into the war. Making Germany look like savages. Not surprisingly the English government also withheld info of the weapons cargo aboard the passenger ship for several decades after. Leaving a question of did the English Government intentionally load military cargo and allow the passenger cruise to go in harm's way. It sadly appears to be that way. But, as in any government involved incident things tend to get covered up.

I wish we the US joined the German side of the war over this or stayed out of it altogether while cutting ties to Britain, because the Lusitania had ammo on board making the ship a LEGITIMATE target for the german U-boats. The German government even warned passengers and posted warnings all over the docks saying DO NOT BOARD THIS SHIP. But politics and greed tend to trump everything. Captian Dow was right to step down for this exact reason.

And to think that the RMS Titanic was supposed to be White Star Line's response to Cunard's RMS Lusitania and its rival ship. Both amazing ships destroyed by terrible and avoidable circumstances. It's like comparing Pan Am flight 103 to TWA Flight 800 and the Boeing 747-100s involved in both. Two massive and prestigious rival companies ruined by the destruction of some of their biggest and best vehicles. Most unfortunate.

Now you know

UK. bruiser.
The Americans and the british pulled a 'pearl harbour' or '911' with the Lusitania. It seems like a sacrificed ship, people and cargo so as to change public's opinion and drag the U. S. into the war. I think it was fair game for the germans, the british went to great extents to make it fair game.

The fact that the actors managed to convey a sense of surprise and regret from the German captain is astounding to me. That scene did seem like they weren't expecting for it to sink so fast and therefore took more lives than they are willing to have on their conscience. The acting is top-notch.

Does 'The captain goes down with the ship' mean the captain locks himself or contains himself into a death room? or can he at least help his passengers and still be onboard and go down with the ship. Dont understand why in these ship disaster movies the captain locks himself in a death room?

We never learn from history. The powerful will always push the helpless towards the jaws of the enemy, rouse the enemy, and when the helpless are devoured, use that to gather momentum against the enemy.

It surprises me just how far the British government was willing to go to shift all the negative attention towards the captain, rather holding themselves accountable for their own negligence.

This was not a tragic sinking. It was idiocy not to respect a bottle up of the British islands. Or anyone heard of it, that passengers from the US reached Hamburg during the war by ship?

That was a great doco movie, they should of played that in cinema, I don't think it was until the 80s that the Brits admitted that she was carrying ammo. An absolute waste of innocence

36: 31 he looks like Jonathan from the Mummy movies. Is that the same actor?
EDIT: I was listening, not watching until about that moment so I didn't see him earlier.

I would have enjoyed watching this but for the annoying documentary. I guess, by the 50 beer ads, the uTube algorithm thinks I'm a drunk. Not worth the waste of my time.
