40 Photos Of Persia Before The 1979 RevoIution In the 80s. I worked for a company. that had a lof of Iranian workers. that escaped Iran after the fall of the Shah. I became friends with one Named Yousef. We were friends for a few yrs. I got a part time job as a bouncer in a local disco. Yousef and his Iranian buddies would hang out there. They were very intelligent. modern. and great people to hang out with. I huge fight happened because some Hispanic guys got angry at another guy that was dating his sister. the fight was big and Yousef and his buddies jumped in to help clear it up. they pushed the parties apart and held them until the Police showed up. I wish I had never lost touch with Yousef. We had some good times together.

Those pictures mostly represent the wealthy, urban westernize iranian elites before the revolution. Pictures from the rural, traditional Iran of the period portray a total different reality. It was this gap between the poor and anandoned countryside )where most of the population lived) and this westernize display of wealth that we can see in the video, what prompted the extremisim and the revolution.

I spent a week training at the Maritime Merchant Marine Academy in 1974, Bronx, NY
& members of the Iranian Naval officer training school were there at the same time!
They were smartly dressed. many spoke English & were very friendly! Even though the
Shah of Iran definitely had many bad points, he did try to modernize his country! Wasn't
that better than what they have now

My Dad was from Tehran, Iran. Came to America and passed away in America. It’s nice to have images of my dads birth place and to see how life was there before he came to America before the revolution. Never had success in getting to know much about my family on my fathers side. This was really nice to see thanks for sharing. What a blessing of todays technology!

Who could forget the Shah of Iran The USofA supported him and his regime. Then we pulled our support and the Revolution took over. Americans felt guilty about his repressive regime.
Historical Note: He used to come to the Cleveland Clinic for medical treatment. His friends and family used to shop at the local Sears store while he was hospitalized.

Beautiful people beautiful culture so sad it was ripped away from them. Freedom is precious, there are powers in the world right now waiting to take it away from Western countries. With the weak government we now have in many countries this could happen sooner than we could imagine.

As a Londoner; an artist l have passion. people say they are oppressed and having a bad time. but really it's NONE of our business. it's THEIR country. if they dont like the situation, then the Iranians themselves must change it.

These are very, very small parts of the truth, which probably belong to the upper class, if only to be true. The people were not satisfied with the government, so they made a revolution and made a revolution themselves

Yes before the revolution and scam, one dollar was worth 7 tomans and the people were never hungry, now the dollar is worth 55, 000 tomans and people go hungry and women are subject to harsh treatment. Javid Shah

What it looks like to be a vassal state of the west, you want equity with regards to your resources Nah I'll assasinate your leader and reinstall a puppet to do my bidding.
It's the American way!

These good people never knew what was comming.
Unlike iraqis some of them did this to themselves.
Should've backed Reza or sided with the previous priminister.

So hard to believe that the women seen in these photos would be forced to wrap themselves up in huge fabric bags after the revolution, and be suppressed at all costs.

I got to know and work with several Iranians in the US after the 1979 revolution. They were fine people and I have complete respect for them.

It was a naked Iran
Khomeini gave it clothes.
Long live the Revolution against the corrupt shah who became a western Puppet

Before khomini it was just showing theur body to seduce man, man and woman free mixing, its call westernisation not modernism

Clearly what this video shows is that the progress and civilisation is measured by how high a woman’s skirt could go.

Alhamdulillah, meskipun Iran dikuasai syi'ah tapi justru lebih baik dari pada waktu itu yang banyak wanita telanjang
