It's simple. We were tierd of watching people we like die a pointless death. That said, this fued fighting has evolved over the years. Nowdays it is expected to fight 1v1 in hand combat if someone has a fued with you here in Norway. This is nothing new and if you fight as a group you are conciderd a pussy by the rest. It's not uncommon to read about fights during a weekend in the local newspaper. Tbh i find this a lot better than people going overboard and pull guns on each other. I've also heard the older generation reffer to this as a good thing, so they can let it all out and talk about it afterwords.

The Icelanders actually developed a system of mediation and dispute resolution that was intended to limit bloodshed.
This was because they lacked a central authority to keep the peace. While not always successful, the significance was that the
community's interest in keeping the peace was recognized as an important goal. Single arbitrators or commissions could be used to help resolve disputes.
The anthropologist Jesse Byock has written books about Viking Age Iceland that put it in perspective.

All other negative post aside id love to know how u track. down these stories, only because my family were all born in Finland/Helsinki. anyways question is my entire life 8v been told my ancestors were vikings. how could I. like u, find fact on this if u find any story good or bad about my last name please share with me I'd be curious to know and any Patovirta in the world is related to me. sooo maybe you'll hav better luck then myself. if not may u stay safe, and thank you for your videos,

Remember, that this is the ICELANDIC system. We dont know that much about law in other parts of Scandinavia. Iceland was populated by people who didnt fit into other parts of Scandinavia, so maybe they had a completely different view on law and order.
