If its not too much to ask, Id like a video about Esperanto, an entirely made up language invented in 1884. Apparently gen x really thought it was going to take off as everyones second language, and predicted it would replace English as the worlds most widely spoken language. I just find it incredibly fascinating what could have been if Esperanto did actually do its intended purpose. Who we all know how to speak it? Resent having to learn it in school? Would it make international visits less awkward for world leaders?

Kinda weird to associate the British with SmallPox, when they helped develope the cure, discovering the source of the vaccine in Cow Pox in India.
And then they helped alongside other western nations to Eradicate it.
Also it originated in Ancient Egypt.
And was found across the Entire Old world prior to being brought over from both sides by Asian and European immigrants.
( people forget Asians came in during the same period just in far smaller numbers and from fewer nations.

When our family migrated to Australia from Britain in 1960, the thumbs up was considered an extremely rude gesture here. Usually given with an upward, jerking motion as in up yer bum. In Britain, it was always the two- finger salute, back of the hand outwards and usually with an upward sweeping motion of the arm. I don't recall seeing much of the raised middle finger in either the UK or Aus until well into the 70s, when US TV shows started to dominate.

I'm an Australian boomer. I don't recall the middle finger gesture until way after I was an adult, mid eighties perhaps. For my generation, schooled during the seventies, it was the forks- the reverse of the victory sign, first two fingers upright, other two folded down, palm facing the person doing it. It did have the same meaning though!
The 'bird' seems more emphatic and coarse for some reason.

You bit about the middle finger and archers is wrong! It is/was said to be the first two fingers and the jester is those fingers extended with the palm in that is, still today, an insult in Britain. In fact the WWII jester V for Victory had to be made with the palm facing outward or it would have been the disparaging one for the Brits.
Now, go test that bit of history.

I've seen kids who point with their middle finger. It could be something in front of them, on a table, in the air, selection from menu in ff restaurant, etc.

Speaking as a Brit I dont know where you got your info from, but Brits traditionally use 2 fingers for that sign, not 1 (in a reverse peace fingers position.
