What If NASA Had the U. S. Military's Budget?

They sent humans to walk on the Moon, flew by every single planet in our Solar System, delivered the first residents to the International Space Station. What else could NASA have done if it had a bigger budget? Say, the budget of the U. S. military? How close would we be to colonizing Mars? Would you be spending your vacation on the Moon? What about visiting other solar systems?

To be honest, with the uprising of Elon Musk they wont need more money, they need cheaper products. Sure more money would be awesome to the industry but space exploration being crowdfunded is amazing too! New technological developments that would actually benefit the people are coming soon, like internet across the world no matter where you are(you could be standing in the middle of the desert and still have internet.
EDIT: actually, who even goes outside anymore lmao.

This would be good but ultimately we need Communism to ever become a thriving space faring race. Things like money, cost, war, borders, and the mere concept of different countries only slows down progress to becoming a multi planet race. Capitalism will have to go.
Under Communism we-d only ever have to worry about efficiency instead of cost so even without Capitalism and Privatization we-d still be forced to innovate and we wouldn-t need competition.

What if money was never invented. Talking about 600billion $ is nothing but pieces of fine paper right! The things that a person need to do something is present on earth but in diff parts of world and we have to pay for that and just imagine what if there was only one empire in the whole world, no need of money!

Instead we are busy fighting each other over man made things we are spending so much resources and money on things that doesn't even matter, and so little on things that do matter, just because we have given power to few old fu-ks who probably be gone in next 10 years.

I don-t understand why 450 billion dollars will be required for NASA to send humans to mars --- only 80-90 billion are enough for them either the rest 360-370 billion dollars will be used for mars colonisation or will be wasted and given back ---

If there is proper world piece like very good world piece in the world then we could pretty much do anything in our technology and we would make a huge leap in development but that ain't possible

Simple and easy to solve our climate changes, and to make America rich and great again. Invest on mining on our moon that is stack on energy resources that is easy to find and yet is safe.

Maybe we can combine NASA and the military; every ship, station or base we build can be bristling with WEAPONS (just in case we encounter some hostile critters on the Moon or Mars.

Researching space race and development of space industry: no, meh
spending billions in installing democracies and meddling in foreign elections around the world? YES!

Now what if we spent the world's military budget on ending hunger, supplying clean water, on health, and on education of everyone on earth. Who would be dreaming of mars?
reply

If only NASA did haaaa! The frustration. Instead of spending money to destroy your fellow human, Instead spend money to help humanity too go to a better place CRAZY -.
reply

What if? America's biggest geo polotical rivals would expand their influence and the petro dollar would be replaced.
Then NASA wpuld get close to nothing.

reply

If the us halved its military budget and gave 300 billion to NASA the us would still be the 1 military power and we would have mars and moon colonies by 2050
reply

Other solar systems is a bit of a overestimation even for that kind of a budget. Money does not always lead to great discoveries, atleast in such short time.
reply

Tks for this
Politicians are not spending money no building but destruction more.
This is friendly from aliens to see space mission possible

reply

Humanity is in a time of personal wealth once humanity breaks free of the illusion of money that's when things will become real interesting.
reply

There's so much harmony between space agencies (government & private) because space missions are too costly, more agencies come, less cost
reply

at first I thought that would be cool
then I realised, nasa will have to wait for Technology to do some of those bigger projects.

reply

If nasa can do this in 600 billion dollars what can isro do in the same budget.
Colonize the Andromeda I say-

reply

We will continue to be insignificant beings in the face of the universe if we continue to fight amongst ourselves
reply

Isro spent 1/16th of the budget NASA spent to reach mars. what if ISRO gets atleast what NASA is getting now
reply

Now imagine if that budget was given to spacex were they are actually efficient with the budget they are given
reply

All the country just should stop beating each other and give some of there millatery bugget to explore
reply

This video sucks and is a rip off of second thoughts video about the same thing with far less detaild
reply

It-s really telling when they-re more focused and invested in killing one another than saving humanity
reply

What would NASA do with a military budget? Isn't there something called the United States Space Force?
