Just use nuclear. it-s gotten a bad rap over the years due to fear mongering. nuclear plants actually have the best safety records around for accidents, their power output covers the needs of modern societies (waaaaaaay better than wind or solar and with far less space. Also, solar power needs to be stored, and that means batteries, and batteries (specifically the battery acid) leave a ton of toxic waste as well once they are spent.
i swear, modern -environmentalists- care less about the actual environment and are just concerned with getting their pet projects off the ground at they-re best, and doing nothing but irrational fear mongering due to ideology at their worst. For instance, the Sahara has its own eco system, specifically creatures that crawl on the ground. do you guys really think PERMANENTLY covering that ground and blocking it from the sun would be good for those creatures? like i just said. more concerned about your pet projects than actually using your heads and looking for the best solution (which IS nuclear at the present level of technology. solar power is great to put on your roof if you want, but it is a terrible power source for whole countries.
start actually looking for truth instead of what fits your world view.

Solar panels would be a better option for helping reduce the number of Nicola power stations that are not environmentally friendly because of the massive amounts of work and machinery involved!
Solar panels should not be placed on fertile fields for growing Vegetable or Farming!
The number one location should be on Rooftops of old and new buildings in general any building capable of supporting solar panels!
On top of that excess power can be put back on the National Grid bringing in income to businesses and the general public in the long term--
Fields and nature must be left as intened for agriculture or vegetable growing and the rest off the open spaces for wildlife tawna and fauna as this will only help kerb Rising temperatures there is no other way!
Lining via the pockets of the wealthy to build solar farms will only help with the rising temperatures and climate crisis exacerbating!

But in which condition we get those materials?
Millions of people already died from conflicts caused by army groups sponsored by multinational companies with complicity of the so called powerful nations
Are we going to stay quiet and let those innocent people being killed just because we want to drive a nice car or having electricity in house?
We all concerned about what it-s going on right now in east of Congo
Take time to think how you love your family and the pain you would have you to loose your love one

There are more issues than the few mentioned in this video. To cover 1. 2% of the Sahara Desert would mean an array of about 200 mile square. These would have to be maintained and access to them would have to be a part of it. Drifting sand covering the panels is a big deal. The rain it produced would mean lower efficiency. Distributing the energy is mentioned. -Sustainable? - Solar panels don't last forever. And, the energy would have to be stored since it wouldn't produce anything during the nighttime.

Solar panels ain-t that simple.
Solar panels on 3 story building needs regular cleaning in country like India where there is significant amount of dust, solar panels in a desert will need daily cleaning of the glasses that cover the solar cells or else it won-t generate any energy & would rather start burning. People have a misconception that solar panels are low maintenance.

Wait but deserts are a result of cool dry air being dumped on them from Hadley cells. Which is why most of them are located at 30 degrees north latitude and 30 degrees south latitude. Even if we lower the temp the place will still be constantly supplied with dry air.
