I hate when people say -Jupiter doesn't have a surface-. That's such a misnomer because no, it is not PRIMARILY a planet with a surface but it does in fact have a surface. All of the gas giants do. It's not like you hit the center of the planet and it's just. gas. It has an iron core, iron is not gas. No, it may not have a surface you can walk on but saying it has no surface is also just incorrect. It used to be believed that the planets only consisted of gas, no iron core. Then we discovered the gigantic magnetic field and did the calculations and realized that Jupiter's core alone is about 10 times the size of earth. That means that Jupiter actually has 10 times more surface than the earth.

I love your line at the end, -maybe we should leave the planet as a beautiful mystery-. I feel like this relates to most speculative ideas. I absolutely love thinking and talking about complex ideas, especially in space, but it is important to just sit back and enjoy--and appreciate--the show. Great video.

The sheer SCALE of the. planet would put of any mad notion! Can you imagine a doctor being asked for the ok by some space lunatic who's about to leap of a ship wearing a special suit to dive into Jupiter! The doctor says - I DO have other patients to see!
