What If a Magnetar Collided With a Black Hole?

FBTwitterReddit

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
In the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way, there is a supermassive black hole feeding on nearby stars. It's called Sagittarius A-. And if a giant gravitational monster slowly eating the galaxy isn't terrifying enough, there is another cosmic monstrosity lurking around it. Could they, one day, come a little too close and collapse on each other? What would be left of the Milky Way if they did? Would there be even a slight chance that the Earth could get out of that safely?

Technically, both stellar objects are Neutron Stars. The one with the most mass would eat the other if they drifted into a binary orbit. If they collided directly, there is a chance that both objects would be experience a kind of Nova that only occurs from colliding stars. Both would experience spallation, create nebulas and stars and their cores would survive in some way, although probably much smaller, and eventually just become a new small Black Hole.

Sagittarius A is not feeding very actively like this video suggests. Very little matter actually falls into it. An example I heard is that if sagittarius a was a human, it'd be eating about a grain of rice a day.
It's a small detail, but if your content is educational, details are still important to get right.

The answer? Nothing. Any kind of star falling into a galactic black hole would add an insignificant amount of mass and energy. A magnetar only has a mass of about 1. 4 solar masses (more than about 2 solar masses and it becomes a black hole itself. Sagittarius A- is 4 million solar masses.

So many false, s i a magentar goes close to Moon, every planets, includin the Sun will be -eated- by the Magnetar. Then, if a Black Hole and a Magnetar, where BL rips it part, wont happen, because of Magentar Starquake, which causes insane brightness

i know this video is 3 years ago but in 2020 was not a theorical limit proposed? even todays biggest theorical and normal black holes never will get in that size

Really magnetars revolve once every 10 seconds cuz i have read like there are slow one but some are extremely fast ones too which spins like 1000 spins a second

Ay to mah jit trippin I know blackholes by the way what's a maagneater also I love space and this video I also know what's insid the black holes small suck thing

The magnetar is only a small fraction of the mass of Sagittarius A. It would devour the magnetar in a burst of electromagnetic energy, and that would be that.

The black hole is the strongest it destroyed the white hole plus it is stronger than the sun and the Milky Way and it is starting to be a gold hole

Sagittarius A- is our guardian angel, taking care of any anomaly in Milky Way. Don't you dare talking bad about it with your uneducated mouth.

The two most powerful gravity and magnetic forces collide in a violent conflagration, so what would happen? That's easy - Chuck Norris.

What if 2 black holes interacted with the same identical mass and size, which one would essentially eat the other one and why? -

I want a video called -solar system vs their evil selves- where the solar system fights their evil versions, who will win?
reply

Well what if we throw a dimagnetic substance in magnetar. I guess it will get repeled and thrown out with high speed
reply

Why was the black hole afraid to go on a blind date? It didn't want to be sucked into anything too serious.

OMG! I was never watching in the videos tab and i already found it! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
