It poses ethical questions, but using atmospheric bacteria could be fruitful for teraforming. Lithotroph metabolisms might be worth looking at, since I think they harness energy from ambient energy, and just use minerals as a carbon source or some shit like that. There might be a metabolism that could turn all that sulfur into nice and fun to breath air, which would be a start at least. But like I said, ethical questions I guess but is wiping out bacteria bad? We do that all the time but would that be bacterial genocide?

I could see the potential for all sorts of things to go wrong. And just who in their right mind would agree to move there and take a chance on getting burnt to a crisp? It sounds very hypothetical and I am still wondering what purpose floating colonies would serve aside from costing lots of money. Maybe sometime in the next 700 years, assuming humanity lasts that long. There is still the moon, Mars, Callisto and Titan. Though farther away, they just seem a lot more realistic and somewhat safer.

Early on, resources for the floating cities would have to come either from the Venusian atmosphere, or from shipments from Earth -- it would not be possible to exploit the mineral resources of the hot, hostile environment. Some brilliant and dedicated engineers would have to find ways to go to and under the planet's surface to mine resources.

You would not have to put helium in the airship to make it float. The atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide so you could use even breathable (for humans) air to fill the blimp. Oxygen or nitrogen (or a mix of them) and it would be lighter than the atmosphere of Venus.

Terra forming JUST the upper atmosphere would be much easier I think, plus with all the free energy from the lower atmosohere, a closed resource loop would be much easier, so it could get bigger much faster (free energy means easier recycling)

No solar flare can make earth worse than Venus. And a grb would hit the whole solar system simultaneously where earth is better protected anyway. And earth is better equipped to deflect asteroids.

If I solar flare hit Venus it would have been worse if it got hit by an asteroid same thing except it-s atmosphere is thicker gamma ray burst even if it hit earth it would also effect Venus.

First of all we-d have to make stuff to make the cloud cities float which would mean that we would have to somehow make that happen and Venus is closer to the sun which would be a problem
