What If You Brought Modern Technology to the Middle Ages?

The Middle Ages, a time when you were more likely to die on the toilet than take a bath. And now you're going there with an educational mission. It's up to you now. Let's show the Middle Ages how it's done. Would you be tried as a witch? Could you cure all diseases? Or would you accidentally create a new pandemic? Would you be able to discover electricity? Will smallpox be cured? What are garderobes?

If modern technology were introduced to the Middle Ages, it could have a significant impact on society and the way people lived. The introduction of advanced transportation, communication, and medical technology could greatly improve the quality of life for people living in the Middle Ages. Additionally, advances in agriculture, manufacturing, and construction could lead to increased productivity and economic growth.
However, it is also important to consider the potential negative effects of introducing modern technology to an ancient society. The sudden influx of advanced technology could disrupt the existing social and economic order, leading to widespread upheaval and potentially even collapse of civilizations. Additionally, the lack of understanding of how to operate and maintain these technologies could lead to dangerous situations and accidents.
It's a complex topic and it depends on how and when the technology is introduced.

I'd bring guns and ammo, as well as books on math, science, irrigation, architecture, modern and past military structures and tactics and medicine and all written in different centuries. However, I'm not going to Europe, but Africa to end the Arab slave trade and establish some order with different African tribes so they can band together and prevent the Transatlantic slave trade and colonization from happening to begin with.
I may be dead or an old man by the time the slave trade came, but the people would be ready with advance knowledge of what the Europeans have in mind for them.
Africans have people called griots, who are trained to memorize vast quantities of information, so transferring this knowledge would indeed be possible in case I get sick or worse.
The Europeans (particularly the British and French) would be defeated so badly that they'll never try messing with Africans again.

What ever makes history could come with repetitive destruction of history but I-d rather bring all technologies to the past along with firearms and not care about how many wars gets started and also hope the best that no tyrant leads any countries. The best thing or worse thing that I could do is bring modern technology along with the founding fathers along with Donald Trump back before any ice age starts in North America and South America just to get the United States of America started without any tyrant in office just to prevent tyranny of entering any countries.

I think the time traveler will literarily die, because getting used to medieval ways will be an uphill task.
Then again you'd think that living in the 21st century he/she would help them develop their technology but that's sadly not the case because we are surrounded by technology but do not k ow how it works at the rudimentary level because we take it for granted
Take for example, how to start a fire to cook, I dare anyone here to try starting a fire without using a lighter or matches or any other modern apparatus

Let's get some informations straight. When there was a toilet in a castle, set up high up sure but it didnt flew to the moat ( or at least not usualy. It was used by the people whos job was to collect it.
People like you through the history painted medieval times as barbaric brute apes.
They were smarter than majority of people think.
-edit: or to say it differently, they were vay more similiar to us than we think. As far we know they didn't had pc culture, do was better than our culture

Guns, of course. We could take over the world with 22s, just dont teach them how to make firearms and ammo.
I could have a whole army of peasants with rifles, but without me, they could only use them till the ammo ran out.
Id also build a modern skyscraper on a small mountain, standing all by itself, like a super wizard tower, as tall as possible. My modern base would be surrounding it, inside the walls.
It would blow their minds.

I would take music from the Beatles and from Paul McCartney with me! If I ended up getting stuck in that time it would be shame I would never have a chance to hear them again. I perhaps could play it on a gramophone player? These don-t require electricity.
And then I can sing along with the song -The World Tonight-: -I go back so far, I-m in front of me! -

reply

Honestly the average human would be useless to going back in time because while we know a lot of things we know next to little about how to actually make or build anything.
There is no knowledge we have that could actually be of use

reply

I'd come back with the knowledge to build cannons. And become my own -master crafter-. War machines builders were hard to come by back then and very sought after. Even tho their warachines were mostly things like seige towers and ballistas
reply

I think I-d bring back history books to middle ages. translated to their language
That way anything wrong that will happen will be avoided making an alternate timeline where people who knew history would save the lives of millions

reply

i first bring an Ak47 then i shoot the king if any one goes against me i shoot
i could be feared, if a country invades i just make mine and grenades then i stand on a hill
and then i shoot then i change history

reply

I don't know about the rest of modern technology but if you showed up and gave them modern weapons it would be a disaster. We can barely handle modern weapons now I can't imagine what they would have done with them back then
reply

You-ll be famous for it, they-ll surely think highly of you. You-ll be like a celeb, where you-ll have fans goshing over you when you come back that way in their times.
You-ll become the favorite most likely.

Modern firearms, support systems and similar military equipment.
Books on the basics of mathematics, engineering and electronics.
Because nothing drove invention more than wanting to kill each other, ever.

reply

The only modern person that could survive the Middle Ages is likely an engineer. The phone thing was dumb since it relies on gps satellites for location, it wouldn-t have much of a use to be honest.
reply

I think I will bring simple technologies first then teach people how to make and use it. then the next time I visit them I'll bring bigger and more complex tech for them. -
reply

If I had the power to go back in time I-d gather scientists with me, travel back to the 14th century and prevent the bubonic plague from ever happening
reply

If i'm the one traveled back in time i'll be useless because i don't know how everything works. Maybe i'll introduce them how to floss. -
reply

Hmmmm well in medival ages and the new technolgy into medival ages then 2022 will have flying cars and new things -we all prob hate that-
reply

I will bring hundreds of science, Maths, Computer and other books which contains all the information we need to know about the future
reply

Watched 03/02/2023 I already think of the tortures. so I don't want them to modernize the tortures. I'm glad we are in present days.

-This is an interesting -What If- question-
-I always wonder how the Middle Ages people would think about technology-

reply

I would take a picture of them and tell them i own them now and i would be like a god
(Also would blaze some guns)

reply

Honestly I-d just give them antibiotics. I-m very sure just that would make all of the difference in changing the future.
reply

You'll worry about charging the phone/ tablet but the real question is how would any of this shit work with no internet---
reply
