The first 1, 000 people to use the link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare: Every 75 years, a ball of fire streaks across the sky. But that's no fireball. It's Halley's Comet. And you're about to hitch a ride on it. Get ready for a journey around the Sun to the edge of the Solar System. And back again. What conditions would you find there? How would you manage to survive on your new icy home? And what would it have in common with a trip to a Hawaiian island?

Halley's Comet is a periodic comet that orbits the sun once every 76 years and is not capable of carrying anything or anyone on its surface. It's a small object, only 15 km in length, and it's mostly composed of ice and dust, with a very weak gravity. The surface temperature is around -100 Celsius, and it's bombarded by high-energy particles and radiation from the sun.
Riding on Halley's Comet would be impossible and extremely dangerous, as the comet's surface is not solid or stable enough to support any kind of vehicle or structure, and the harsh conditions would be lethal to any living organism. Additionally, the speed of the comet as it moves through space would be extremely high, making it difficult to maintain a stable position on its surface.
In addition, it's worth noting that Halley's Comet is not in the proximity of the Earth's orbit, so it would require a significant amount of energy to reach it, and even if it were possible, it would take about 76 years to orbit around the sun, which would be impractical and dangerous.
So, riding on Halley's Comet would be purely a fictional scenario, not a safe or feasible thing to do in reality.

Well I think Haley's comet would make a good asteroid for setting up a temporary telescope type probe on its surface, as it heads away from the Sun and out to the edge of the solar system you probably get some good images. But if I was going to take a plot of land from some other body other than Earth, I would prefer plot of land on Saturn's moon Titan or Mars either one.

Bro if we was able to safely land on the thing and actually able to survive and make it back then we wouldn-t have any of these complications because we should-ve already made the technology for it. But we won-t be able to do that right now because humans suck
reply

I can't believe you used Challenger footage. The shuttle wasn't a probe and it blew up due to an O Ring that allowed gas blow by due to freezing Temps. Didn't know you considered 7 astronauts a Probe. How young naive are you peiple

I saw that comet when I was a kid before I moved into the house I-m staying at now flew right over the house. Crazy how big the thing looks even from so far away it was a VERY long time ago but stunning and beautiful.

Asteroids/Comets are rocks with almost no ice. Comet tail is due to its electromagnetic interactions with the Sun and its solar wind. See physicist Wal Thornhill's videos on asteroids and comets for proper understanding.

Thats not how the millennium will change, it will go from 2099 to the year 3000. From 1200-1900s it ended in 99 and hit the next millennium 1999-2000 its only logical 2099 ends with 3000.

Would you age? What kind of question is that of course you'd age. Now if you were going 99% the speed of light you might age a less then people on earth.
reply

What if you removed the Challenger explosion footage and the narration suggesting that comet dust caused it to explode. Godspeed Challenger crew.
reply

The 1986 Challenger disaster was not a probe, and it carried -seven brave men and women- who gave their lives in the name of exploration.

It seems like loosing that much material all the time for 4billion years it shouldn't be anything left of the comet. don't add up!
reply

I was very young when it flew by and don-t remember any of it. I-ll be an old man when it comes back but only if I live long enough.

Why even talk about how you-d age in the thumbnail if you-re not even going to bring it up once in the video? So dumb.
reply

You said the debris trail is behind the comet. What position is the debris trail in as the comet moves away from the sun?

Please make a video on what if we some how push pluto in habitable zone,
This topic will be interesting.

I'm sorry. There is no fire in space. And a comet is ice and rock. Where do u see fire? You mean meteorite?

Is it just me or i'm the only person who doesn't recommend Skillshare? and its obnoxious ads is just.
