Things You Were Lied to About Dinosaurs

You might have heard that all dinosaurs were wiped out 65 million years ago when a 15 km wide asteroid crashed into Earth and caused a mass extinction event. But that - is entirely false

No, we were NOT -lied- about anything in paleontology! We were only told what was the best understanding of the fossil record at the time. Science evolves, and paleontology has evolved in huge steps lately thanks to exquisitly preserved fossils found in China since 1984, and several new technologies that make it possible to gather substantially more data from fossils than ever before.
The first unequivocal evidence of feathers in a non-avian dinosaur was discovered in China in 1996! Since then, ever emerging new finds have revolutionised our understanding of dinosaur anatomy - and several new avian dinosaur species have been found there, some of which have baffled paleontologists with their wing-feathered legs.
One could accuse THIS VIDEO of -lying-, since they show repeatedly Pterosaurs while talking about Theropods and -some dinosaurs- that -could even fly-. First, Pterosaurs were not dinosaurs at all. Second, they call Theropods a -species-, when Theropoda is actually a CLADE, meaning a GROUP of dinosaur FAMILIES that share a common ancestor. And taxonomic families consist of SPECIES.
And no, reptiles are NEVER slimy! They are DRY! And what on Earth has a (slimy) toad to do in a dinosaur video?
We don't need any of this kind of nonchalant messing around with science that only confuses people! There's enuff of tinfoil-hat -knowledge- out there already, thank you!

It's amazing how many of these things I wondered about even as a teenager, and it took scientists this long to figure out and start discussing them officially. I used to wonder how they knew dinosaurs weren't warm-blooded, and how they knew all of them laid eggs. I used to wonder where the space was for muscles when they showed the bones next to an overlay of the creature with skin, and why none of them had fat or neck skin flaps like birds or lizards. I used to wonder how they knew they had all skin as opposed to something like fur (though, it turned out to be feathers.
It was all of those things they shame you for wondering in school because it goes against the modern perception (a very -stay in the box- way to exploration, I suppose)--only to roll your eyes when they start coming up with those ideas themselves. Not sure if my teenage self would be excited or annoyed by scientists finally discussing it more. -

To this day I feel they are still making a huge mistake as far as the T rex is concerned, as well as the large therapods like it. The slow lumbering heavy T rex to me is false, and the weight of T rex was much less that then what it published due to its hollow avian bones. the -Sue- skeleton is also a joke. all those extra ribs underneath where the breast plate should be. look at any other bird fossil or skeleton and you will see that no bird ever was built like this. I dont even think those are -Sues- legs to be honest. I feel they mixed up a few different skeletons and came up with that monstrosity on their own and it should not be displayed as accurate. they should dig more and find the rest of the other dino that Sue fell on or got mixed up with while being fossilized.

-Dinosaurs can fly- -proceeds to show quetzalquatles a non dinosaur- also the thumbnail is false T. rex didn-t have any fossil evidence that supported the -T. rex had feathers- theory meaning it-s false. another fact that I can prove though is when he says-I wonder if some Dino-s are fluffy- and yes baby T. rexes were fluffy to balance there heat levels witch they couldn-t do as they were young and this same fluffy hatchlings thing is common in mostly avian therapods with feathers. i don-t expect you to get this far because people don-t usually read comments the size of a middleschool essay

There are many misconceptions that have since been shown to be wrong. That doesn't make them -lies-. Although science is frequently finding new evidence of dinosaurs and prehistoric events, much of it remains speculative. Speculation is not -lies-. it may not be accurate and doesn't claim to be. It's simply the best conclusions that can be drawn from available evidence.
So here's a 'What If' for you: what if every time you stated something that you believed to be true and was later proved to be incorrect by new evidence was presented as -lies-? Think about it.

I've often wondered, when I was a teenager especially, how in the world could anyone possibly have known what these Dinos looked like based on bones? It's like finding an unfinished home that only has it's framing up and somehow that's enough information to tell us that it had green gables, yellow siding with a red brick trim and white window panes? And how do we know T-Rex's had bad eye sight? It's all up for imagination is all I'm saying.

Everyone knows that birds are the remnants of dinosaurs-Now. They just didn't realize then-so why does it have to be a lie? We live in such a finger pointing, fault finding world, I tell ya. I wasn't lied to-I just was told what they didn't know then. And as for people pointing fingers at dinosaur movies-these are movies-they have fiction-we have to suspend our disbelief-remember?

All dinosaurs on your planet were wiped out. However, it didn't happen millions of years ago as you erroneously believe. The true number is more in the thousands. Your planet is not as old as you speculate it to be.
-This isn't totally accurate. - As is none of the -information- you present in this video. Most of it is woefully inaccurate.
Humans created dinosaur DNA.

NO LIES. The scientific community is always researching and improving our knowledge of the past as new information and techniques present themselves. Not to be confused with the public's scientific illiteracy, believing things like 'man evolved from monkeys' or 'most scientists thought the earth was flat', which science never said but people still think.

Crocodiles are not dinosaurs
To be a dinosaur you have to have a few qualifications
1 You Have to be an archosaurs which eliminates everything except for crocodilians and pterosaurs
2 You have to be part of the Avemetatarsilia which eliminates crocs
3 In retrospect is that you have to be member of the dinosauria

No one -lied- FFS! Living dinosaurs have long been known about. The NZ tuatara is thought to be the only non-avian survivor, but its ancestry is well known and undisputed. The fact that birds have a common dinosaur ancestry is also orthodox understanding. So- clickbait?
reply

Lied. Too much of this they lied non-sense these days. My studies always new that flying reptiles survived this event. Dinosaurs were probably struggling anyhow, as plant species were changing, with flowering plants starting to evolve and to become dominant.

T-Rex eyesight myth is a fault of Jurassic Park movie doing shortcuts. In the book it was explained, that lack of movement perception was a result of filling gaps in DNA with a DNA of a frog and real trex had excellent sight. In the movie they skipped that.

Me and my brother were -HUGE- dinosaur nerds when we were younger, so I knew most of these facts, apart from the Brontosaurus one. - When I learned about dinosaurs, it was still widely accepted that Brontosaurus actually was an Apatosaurus. -
reply

'Lied to', 'false'. I would never use such a term to describe ongoing scientific insight. Most probably we'll have an even more detailed insight in dinosaurs in about 50 years. This kind of rhetoric is food for the conspiracy theorists amongst us.
reply

It's all speculation until someone travels back in time and confirms. No one can say with 100% certainty, -This is definitely what dinosaurs were like, and this is definitely what happened 65 million years ago. -
reply

Its easy to be a smart ass with todays knowledge at hand from modern science. We are constantly learning by standing on the shoulders of giants who progressed science through the years to the present day.
reply

Let me see if I have this right, you think not having all the information makes you a liar. So, if scientists in the past didn't know everything we know now, they were liars? Is that what you are saying?
reply

Why do people still claim that dinosaurs died out millions of years ago? when proteins found in fossils dont last millions of years nor does dna thats been found. Dinosaurs died out not that long ago.
reply

Honestly nearly all the science on dinosaurs is myth. Nobody knows for sure. Also the likelyhood of dinos becoming birds is as likely as them just building a ship and going to another world.
reply

Dinosaurs are about as real as Godzilla. Did you know that there doesn't even exist a single fossil for Spinosaurus.
There is more evidence for Bigfoot than dinosaurs.

reply

I was SO happy when it was proved that brontosaurus and apatosaurus were two separate species - brontosaurus means -thunder lizard-, which is one of the coolest names ever! -
reply

No one lied, if you talking about a movie, it's a movie, if you're talking about things we discovered after a while. that is science, it's like calling every concealment a lie.
reply

People keep acting like it-s inaccurate not to give T rex feathers because he MIGHT have had one.
If everyone showed it with feathers they-d be decried as speculation

reply

And, you continue to lie about them. The entire story is made up. Yes, dinosaurs existed, but the timelines and the way they died is very different to your explanation.
reply

at end of the day it is all an enormous speculation. nobody saw anything. they might have been totally different. do you really want to trust holiwood?
reply

Ankylosaurus fossils are found in north america. Glyptodont fossils are found in South America. Armadillos are recognized as being related to glyptodonts. So.
reply

By looking at skulls of T-Rex i don't really see how its eyes were facing directly forward like mammalian predators or us. Anyone else with that problem?
reply

Dinos didnt have feathers, some young species did have it but adult dinos did not have feathers, that is a fact. Birds are dinos tho which is funny
reply

Imagine using a -real- pic that's arguably faker than the fake one.
At least choose some accurate paleoart, not some colorful fantasy beast.
