Mars or Venus What planet would be better for human life to populate one day The obvious answer might be Mars, but what if I told you Venus is actually a way better option Venus has a potentially better atmosphere and less harsh gravity. But on the other hand, Mars has a better surface and could potentially be terraformed. So, let's figure out which planet is really better for humans. Today, we'll walk you through 5 different categories to determine which planet is the best. Mars or Venus. But first, let's learn a little bit more about them. 00: 00 What Is Better for Life - Mars or Venus 02: 01 Housing 08: 11 Growing Food 10: 59 Resources 12: 55 Can We Really Move To These Planets Support us on Patreon: Get the What if book: Join this channel to get access to perks: Interested in sponsoring our episodes or collaborating Email us: contactunderknown. com Our other channels: How to Survive: Aperture: T-shirts and merch: Newsletter: What If elsewhere: Discord: Whatsapp: Instagram: Twitter: Facebook: Produced by Underknown: #whatif #mars #venus #space #cosmos #nasa #solarsystem

Why can’t we just not do any of this until we have the technology to successfully terraform each of these planets, making them more like earth in every way with breathable oxygen foremost, and upmost the most priority right there if we could do that and give them landscapes with water and plant life. If we could just do that we could avoid all this unnecessary not being able to breathe being heated up to death and all that other stuff if we go on Work and do this, there’s an old saying it’s called work smarter not harder and if you wanna rush to do it then you’re basically crazy because with the technology we have today we have to build up upon what we have before we’re able to even get close to the process of terraforming so can we not like jump ship trying to be like Star Trek and explore new worlds when we ain’t gonna survive on those things regardless of how hard we try

I find more hope for Mars because when the Sun becomes a red giant, it probably won’t get engulfed. And because of Mars being further away from the Sun, it would be safer to look at the Sun directly. We also think that Mars may have a bit of water too. Also, a Martian day is a tiny bit more than Earth compared to Venus which a day is longer than its year. So it would be more manageable and our sleep schedule won’t be that messed up. We also seem more focused on Mars than Venus too.
Venus has an atmosphere pressure that is 90X more than Earth. And the acid rain would possibly be a much bigger problem. And ofc, we would have to build heat resistant things and there isn’t water ofc.

Mars probably. Venus is just too hot (and maybe too cold in some areas) to support life. Its atmosphere would also crush us. It also rotates too slowly which is not ideal.
Mars has a similar rotation period to Earth. You could actually survive on the surface with a spacesuit. While Mars is cold there are some areas that are quite warm. It is within the habitable zone after all, Venus is not.

Good luck living on Mars. As long as there's no magnetic field around the planet, the atmosphere will continue to be vaporized every now and then and the radiation will be a daily routine for anyone on the surface of the planet. Unless we can artificially create and maintain a magnetic field ourselves, trying to terraform Mars is a fool's errand.

The experts are just guessing all this info.
We haven't even discovered all the creatures that live in the abyss of our deepest oceans yet. And how the hell they survive 30k feet down.
We were put on earth for a reason.
ANY other planet or moon would kill us within seconds without a spacesuit.

I truly hope we can save our current home and not have to resort to building a new one on a Planet that wont want us. All in all, I don't think Venus would work solely because we would have to build floating homes. Mars wont be much better, but at least we could live on the surface.

I think Everything is going to die in a deep freeze, so I think Venus will eventually go through a comfortable temperature period soon or later. We just got to keep an eyes on it, I believe mars is already dead, I think it already when through its faces.

Mars is most likely to be terraformed because of suitable (but thin so it's a problem) atmosphere and something else, then in the future (mostly millions of years) it'll be habitable enough when the sun's luminosity slightly increases.
reply

Why would anyone NOT use local materials Construction on Mars has the advantage of lower gravity. Not as advantageous as on Luna where the internal atmosphere would help support the structure.
reply

Mars cannot be terraformed because there is no way to make an sufficient strong magnetic field. Without it any atmosphere will be swept away by solar flares and cosmic radiation.
reply

Mars is easier to terraform, but Venus has Earth-like gravity, something Mars can never match. In the short term, Mars wins. Long term, Venus is the better bet for human biology.

This video just made me rethink everything about habitable zones! The cosmic irony of Mars vs. Venus is truly mind-blowing. Which one would YOU pick for a future colony
reply

If you think living in the sky on Venus is a great option, why not just do it here Because, gravity is nearly similar, and on Earth, in the air, you would be able to breathe

Every time climate change is mentioned in these videos, it loses all credibility. I enjoy the videos, but I don't need that fiction in the video ruining it.

NASA: Mars is easier to land on.
Venus: But I won’t turn your bones to powder in low gravity.
Me: Ok but which one has Wi-Fi

reply

I am only 18 years old and you are showing to do work. I am indian. And pls make inpiring and entertaining videos especially for the Mars.
reply

If we can't take preventative measures to slow down climate change here on Earth, what makes you think Mars will fare any better
reply

Plants grow with carbon dioxide not oxygen it does release oxygen and with enough we could have a renewable oxygen source
reply

Mars is better for life because on Venus you'll die instantaneously but on Mars you'll be conscious for about two seconds.
