Then, released European wild boars had a population explosion, devastated the Native crops overnight. This was a far worse problem than might be suspected - annual food crops just gone when they woke in the morning. This caused disorder, starvation, attacks on other tribes for food.
Although having a great cultural start in crops types, they lacked large beasts of burden, metallurgy, complex social development, historical understanding, were superstitious, lacked substantial or any writing nor written histories or knowledge of other peoples and times to assist in intellectual strategy.
Everything they tried was far too little and far too late in cultural development, basically poorly defended family groups facing devastating near modern armies that aimed to remove them, not merely humiliate them nor merely snag a few women as other tribes might do. They faced a devastating force they had little defense against.
But don't think Native Americans were innocent. Tribes committed literal genocide against each other before Europeans ever arrived in mass graves of 500 skeletons of the massacred people in Pre European archeological sites.
Guess whom depopulated the most useful heart of the continent? The entire Great Lakes region? The Iroquois, NOT whites. It was the Iroquois that slaughtered away vast areas - hundreds of thousands of square miles of other Natives territories, total genocide, whom THEN ON RECORD PLANNED ON GENOCIDING WHITES INTO THE SEA! It didnt work out that way, but it all ended up paving the way for far easier white colonization.
There was also a genetic component - the Europeans already just went through a severe immunity filter were a third to a half died in the black death plagued just a few generations before. .
Further, EUropeans went through one to five thousand years of character eugenics executions of 1-2% of criminals, perverts, the disagreeable creeps, and otherwise antisocial, scumbags EVERY YEAR. Over time, hangings, guillotining, ritual bog murders of unfaithful women and disliked men had the effect of making Europeans more cooperative, and on average, more intelligent, helped shave off the dumbest of the dumb. In short, this enabled what most other peoples on earth could not have - a middle class of reasonably high IQ, more agreeable types.
It's totally untrue that humans everywhere are about the same, that race is skin deep, that anyone from anywhere, leftist failed ideology of multiculturalism, that people can be interchanged like machine parts. The leftist managerial class that promote this idiocy, like Bill Krystal are pseudo intellectual failures, grossly incompetent in social management.
The founders of America were a rare and unique breed for their time, in disease resistance, in average intelligence, in morality, in agreeableness, in impulse controls, technological skillsets and worldview.

The north west was more advanced before European tech. They had their own media machines that Europe would use to inspire their own inventions. They had and have medicines that work better then modern medicines because they knew how to use it. They caught the eastern tribes and eachother, legendary battles. They had been trading down the west coast and taking eastern wives. I'm on of the people of the greatest countries of all time. Wetsuweten and its in bc western canada. We are and were superior. 12000 years of history a union of 13 tribes formed this nation. We have celebrities and doctors and rich people. We have models and I'm half cree so I met mrs. Universe. We have mma fighters, we have everything that matters. Why isnt wetsuweten there. Also many of the tribes of the same language groups would unite against those that are not speaking tbe the same language. And there is the way we think. We dont seek to destroy, we look for value and exploit it. We dont like to waist what's good because it not ours. Look at the colonial governments. Nothing but thieves who act like thieves. And they actually have a lot of land and resources but keep stealing other people's stuff. Not mine though

Interesting but there's a lot of errors in this as far as population estimates go. Also the Hunter gathers on the west coast being too primitive to adopt Western technologies is an extremely flawed and flat out wrong statement. Nothing preventing them from using Western technology/resources. The plains tribes adopted the horse after all, and used it to great advantage to fiercely fight off Western expansion.
I strongly reject the idea of primitive peoples, its very elitist and suggests some kind of ethnic superiority. The simple fact is that they didn't become civilizations because they didn't need to. Just as many call subsaharan Africa undeveloped when they were forced into a Western system from their tribal lifestyle that was far more sufficient. Colonialism left weak governments, minimal infrastructure, ethnic conflict, and borders that separated tribal peoples.

If you want a really good unbiased account of how they lived (or how life in the wild west was in general) read Tough trip through paradise. Guy was one of the first to settle in what is now Montana and he lived with and among the native tribes for a few decades. The Natives were some hard charecters. It also contains one of the only accounts of the Battle of Big Hole by a Nez Perce survivor making it a suprisingly valuable and yet wideley overlooked historic account.

Disagree about advanced culture. Stone age to bronze age level tech and architecture. No wheel, no domestication, hieroglyph based written language. The natives were several thousand years behind the rest of the world. Take a look at the hagia Sophia vs the great mexican pyramids. Hell, lookat the EGYPTIAN pyramids or the Numbian ones. The height of native civilization had the same ceiling all shamanistic cultures have. Basic angular and lunar based art and architecture. Low levels and incentives for progress. Self destructive conservative tendencies.

The reason being is because America provided Europe with many new foods and many new resources to sustain the excess crisis during medieval times prior to the Columbian Exchange and colonialism. Europe today probably wouldnt be as we know it and wouldnt be as technologically advanced like our world is today. It would most likely have technologies today which dated back to the 15th century.

The reason being is because America provided Europe with many new foods and many new resources to sustain the excess crisis during medieval times prior to the Columbian Exchange and colonialism. Europe today probably wouldnt be as we know it and wouldnt be as technologically advanced like our world is today. It would most likely have technologies today which dated back to the 15th century.

Because the effects were not and would not be evenly distributed. 1)guns were traded in the Great Lakes in return for furs horses spread from the south west by Spain perhaps in a n alt for gold 2) the cultural reactions of natives to trade and the alt methods of the Europeans. 3) the ongoing resistance by natives in respect to tribal expansion- basically when did what tribes get what and how did they react to it.

Native Americans were wiped out in large numbers by European diseases. Were there not also Native American diseases lethal to Europeans? Could the Europeans have been more resistant to diseases because they had higher population densities back home and had therefore already suffered attrition from diseases for many past centuries such that the surviving ones had some resistance?

It really depends on whether they start making their own guns and gunpowder or have to buy it from europe. If they have to buy from europe then europe will made the wise financial decision to sell to both sides and try to keep things at an impass. But if one side started making thier own they would quickly dominate.

I heard one of the main reasons disease was so devastating was due to famine. While the Spaniards did have immunities pass down both genetically and through their mother's milk (you get some of your mom's antibodies, the Aztecs didn't starting see the massive losses to diseases until starvation set in.
