Big thing to consider regarding migration patterns in the Americas vs Eurasia is the direction which the mountain ranges run. The mountains in the Americas being oriented North-South serve as more of a barrier, particularly like Rockies. In the old world they run East-West along the length of the landmass making it easier for people to travel along until the find an area they can more easily cross, if thats what theyre looking to do. Geography of the old world greatly contributed to trade being possible in antiquity while it prevented or impeded it in the Americas. However I imagine the Great Lakes being able to be used much like the Mediterranean, with fewer earthquakes, and the Mississippi like Nile.

I'm not sure about the idea that people would think the world is doomed or be pessimistic. That seems like you're speaking from our perspective as people who knew a different world. For someone growing up in an ice age in the green belt they'd probably just think their world is normal, with the ice-bound world outside that belt being terra incognita or here be dragons or even the world ends here on their maps.

a true challenge for whatifaltist would be points of departure of the Paleozoic. i dont care how many eons of variables will be wrong, i just would like so much to have your toughts on stuff like the permian triassic extintion event, or what if this or that volcano didnt erupted. with analysis more zoomed on it surrounding regions for example. i weard of a big bad eruption on scandinavia by the middle ages

In this alternate timeline, Southern Europe would conquer North Africa just because it's population is too dense and people need to survive. They in turn would still be sea fearing so they'll discover america and the continent would be populated by even more europeans as they wouldn't fit to Southern Europe and North Africa.

The reason it seems like we are having a long war period, is because the Earth is only 6000 years old, and there has only been one ice age. Consider that presence of an ice age up north would have simply resulted in a much smaller northern barbarian population, less food, no horses, few people. Perhaps almost too insignificant to have an impact on the (probable) even more fertile crescent. That would be a good extrapolation.

I could see Mali getting really strong if the Sahara goes from a sand desert to a living dezert or Savannah. Egypt is a bit of a mixed bag because the desert served to protect it and it would still probably maintain a core around the nile, making it very vulnerable to raiding.

Does anyone else think that we had an ancient civilization that was practically the same as ours? But it got destroyed by natural disasters, i. e, Super volcano followed by earthquakes, and then by flooding. Idk, maybe thats what Noahs arch was based off of.
