Have you read American War Plans 1945-1950? It's very pertinent to this subject. Suffice to say, I'm not sure what you're on about at 4: 50. The dense infrastructure makes large sweeping maneuvers to be even more practical, not less, and the lack of significant Western conventional forces combine to be a huge boon to a Soviet advance. Not for nothing are most projections of this time clearly end with the USSR easily breaching the Rhine and reaching the Atlantic after about 2-3 months from war start. And Soviet Deep Operations were very much akin to Blitzkrieg in emphasizing rapid breakthroughs and sweeping maneuver warfare, wearing down their enemies through attrition and then achieving breakthroughs is a VERY ahistoric description of late-WW2 and on Soviet strategic-operational thinking.

I am a pessimist and beyond certian that this comment will certainly be ignored. But i have a question for a video?
How do you see the possible warfares emerging due to civilization fault lines by samuel hunnigton. I know a lot of his writing has been called into question and at times disproven.
Yet one key argument remains-
Lets assume a large scale world war (indirect proxy chessboard) happens in our lifetime. Which fault line has the highest probability of causing it, which fault line will provoke expansion of diverse interest in our highly interdependent economies. Which fault line commands more us vs them with a deepend andpermanent vigour than large united people who have different answers to most fundamental of questions.

I think if we didn't lose D. C. in a situation like this the U. S. would move our Capital, but immediately our backup is Philadelphia first, then we'd probably go to somewhere in the middle of the country. I know Philly is the backup because I'm from the suburbs of Philly and been there many, many times. It was the first Capital of our nation and it has everything needed to be the Capital again right away. At least for a short time while we figure out what just happened. Not to mention those of us from Philly and the surrounding area are a special kind of crazy that really only us are willing to mess with. Jawn.

Completley wrong here, the soviets would have overrun western europe really quickly. That is why the US set up operation Gladio in order to keep stay behind para militaries forces that would fight the soviet army with guerillia tactics. You did not factor that in, the Soviets surly did also have blitzkrieg tactics (look up operation Bagration or Operation Uranus. Also the Soviet tanks would be able to move quickly through Western Europe since it is small and infrastructure is good. No way the Americans would halt the soviets at the rhine.

This may still be too early to determine but What if the Jan 6 rioters managed to kill someone like Nancy Pelosi, AOC, Mitt Romney or Mike Pence? Trump A. Trying to use this as an opportunity to declare Marshal Law and B. How this will 100% lead to Trump being convicted and the entire MAGA movement dying out. What would US relations with China, EU and whoever be? How would this effect culture (celebs going nuts, how the inauguration and upcoming Super Bowl would go) would NK and Iran try to capitalize? That is the questions

What on earth makes Lynch think the government and the American people would choose underdeveloped and culturally backwards towns like St Louis as the successor capital when we have Chicago?

One thing you forget about are tge nations occupied by the Soviets and Internal ethnic groups rebeling such as the Polish, Germans, Czech, etc and it would be easy arm them ( basically think French resistance in WW2 but on a bigger scale. Also they wouldn't use nukes that much in the beginning and if they do use nukes it would most likely be on industrial cities, not the capitals.

How many wars have started because the aggressor misunderstood their enemy? Japan thought we did not have a strong will to fight if attacked. Perhaps the information age has mitigated scenario. Countries of the present understand their adversaries very well and a misstep is less likely to happen.
