Astrophysicist Janna Levin, PhD, is asked to explain the concept of gravity to 5 different people; a child, a teen, a college student, a grad student, and an expert. Levin is the Claire Tow Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Barnard College of Columbia University and author of Black Hole Blues and Other Songs from Outer Space. I have been studying the photon decay hypothesis.
I can only tell that the biggest problem and impediment in the modern science is its -trendiness- and burocracy.
In some areas it's even straight censorship. I can see it's happening in the politics nowadays and I am having a deja vu feeling, because this has been happening in science for many-many years.
Some very good scientists in their past turn into -career scientists- and impede any new views and ideas that might shatter their position, therefore, they are only serving themselves at the science expense.

I'd like to hear the conversation with the everage adult with just school level scientific understanding who eventually forgets their school education in everyday life but might further their understanding or at least reignite the school level understanding periodically through popular science, so a level between teen and student. Science literacy videos like this are aimed specifically at adults without college degrees in science, aren't they? Or is that perspective left out intentionally?

what is a white hole? I read that its similar yet opposite to a black hole in the sense of it being like a barrier, once something exits it can't enter back. So, since we can't know how a black hole works(life) based on the limited amount of information(the little amount of years recording their existence) all we know is that it compresses. but what if like how you cause an implosion when compressing something beyond its regular state(example: diesel trucks) black hole turn into white holes?

Astrophysicist Janna Levin, PhD: -this causes space-time to ring, and that was something Einstein thought about right away in 1950 to 1960, he was thinking about that-.
I can guarantee he wasn't in the 1960s. Albert Einstein died in April 1955. Definitely didn't think of that right away in the 1960s since he was already dead for 5-15 years, and saying he though of it -right away- within 5 years of his death is a weird way of putting it.

I occasionally come back to this video because of the beautiful explanations, last time the penny dropped for me on Einstein's relativity theory during the conversation with the college student. This time around I had a similar experience listening to the conversation with the expert about quantum mechanics and the relation with gravity. Fantastic video!

I had the pleasure to see Janna Levin present as a guest speaker at Winton Capital in London. She was part of those gravity wave detection experiments she talks about in this video. It was a fantastic experience and to see how humble yet engaging she can be both in person and in this video!

I have so many new insights about gravity after watching this, and I the way Dr. Levin explains the theory at any level is beautiful. Makes me want to study more science LOL. AND I was totally able to appreciate her beautiful boots as well. This woman clearly has amazing style.

The simulation theory would explain gravity as a simple programmed code instruction in the simulation that makes a smaller gravity body get drawn to a larger gravity body -- for the main reason to allow us to walk like a human being and feel restricted in the simulation.

The internet is the black hole of information. There-s literally so much info packed into it, that it has created multiple realities within it. Where true information and false information both exist, and are both believed by the particles(people) moving within.

This is completely crazy, I am 12 years old and not only understand what they were talking about all the way up to expert level, but I knew it already. There is no way that she had to explain neutron stars to someone getting a phd in activities in neutron stars.
