If you're in the wilderness and have nothing, perhaps the most important thing you need is a sharp, durable edge. Humans are among the weakest species on the planet and tools are what help us compensate for that lack of strength. Dr. Bill Schindler, a professor of archeology and anthropology at Washington College, explains how to construct some primitive stone tools that could be useful in a survival situation. It's also neat that when you get into the neolithic, you see less flaked stone tools and more ground ones. If it needs to be really sharp or can be disposable, it's more likely to knapped or flaked, (fine cutting tools, projectile points, etc) but tools that have to last, rely on structural strength, and don't need to be razor sharp (primarily axes, adzes, etc) were often ground into shape. It was far more time consuming that chipping it out, but gave a much sturdier piece of hardware.

Though we are apex predators we don-t have poison, claws, teeth, and or burrow techniques, therefore we used smarts to develop weapons to hunt, without tactics we would have been extinct in the first 5 decades of existence.

First 30 seconds filled with misinformation known only to the uneducated. You don't sound smart, my guy. Don't sit there and claim humans are a weak species, and their tools are useless.

I could see this as a start of a comedy skit where by the time the guy finishes making the tool it comes out as a swiss army knife but all his fingers are gone and his arms are all bloody.

We were so dominant because our intelligence we made fire and could craft weapons able to kill elephants we my not have been strong but we literally walked our prey down

0: 28 not true. In fact, we have an insane biteforce. Strong enough to pull off literal fingers (including the bone) off a persons hand without even chipping them.

you need to find some nephrite if you want to make a solid durable strong adze that wont break or crack when you drop it. good luck finding some in Maryland.
