Awesome
I-m not sure why a modern Olympic target archer is commenting on this. What they do is very specific. It-s a small fraction of the archery world. A hunter or an archer practicing historical archery would be a lot more appropriate since most her comments are framed with Olympic Archery in mind. And it doesn-t apply in the context of those games or types of archery. She doesn-t know why people -cant- their bow, she doesn-t know about speed archery, she doesn-t know why different bows have different drawing distance, she doesn-t know about hunting, she doesn-t about historical archery. That-s a lot of misinformation for one video. She is great at what she does but none of those games are about Olympic Archery.

I really feel like the game choices were very poorly selected and were a mockery of most archery and ballistics physics, with exceptions. however; crisis=futuristic with no quiver? Witcher=is in an alternate universe where functionality has been quantified with superhuman and enhanced abilities, so scratch that critique. And so on. I did like her and especially her brief energy distribution and division in the multi arrow concept in Horizon. but generally I think they cut up the video to much and didn't get to learn enough science behind archery. in my opinion.

Nice and fun video. It shows, that she isn't used to traditional bows, feather fletching and hunting. Pulling further back then your face is common with Korean and Manchu Bows and yes, it looks scary. When feathers get damaged the arrows get louder. Hunting with arrows will kill the animal the quickest and with the least suffering if you hit the kill box (heart and lungs, the stomach is not in there and with the poundage of a hunting bow and broad heads you don't care about the sternum.

My problem with this is that olympic archery is a very specific circumstance and style of archery, and in most of these video games it is a survival situation that is a much more hunting focused style of archery. So a lot of what she's saying about form and aiming, for example the cant of the bow, is based on Olympic ararchery, not traditional hunting archery, which is what is being shown in the video games. An Olympic archer and a hunter are going to shoot completely differently.

Kind of wish they had have brought a historical weapons expert for this video instead of an Olympic archer. Not trying to be critical of the person in this video because she's obviously very talented to be shooting at an Olympic level but bows in video games are a lot more synonymous with historical archery than olympic archery
Olympic archery is honestly a very specific specialty of archery that has very little in common with any of the other disciplines in archery

As a hunter I would disagree with her in the -Big Game Hunting- section because the -sloppy shooting- is in reference to that it was actually an inhumane shot and you would most likely die if you shot a brown bear like that.
I would agree that the sternum is a very difficult bone to deal with though. to the extent that I might not even take that shot if i were hunting that bear in person, rather waiting for a more broadside shot.

keeping in mind olympic archery is standing still, in the best possible conditions, and taking your sweet time to land one perfect shot,
BUT IN THE REAL WORLD good archery is messy, lazy, unco at times and never in still wind with clear sight of the target whilst standing comfortably in the same spot, completely different archery 10000%, good video explains alot, but alot of people wont realize the nuance of these explanations

When she was talking about the flight of an arrow, she was talking about how it spins and how it's super realistic, and I was waiting for her to point out that the arrow never dropped in its flight, it went straight through at the same angle, and how unrealistic that is. I was pretty shocked by that omission. Also curious why she didn't mention how quickly an arrow will slow down when it hits the water.

the crysis angled bow hold is more to get the top of the bow out of the direct line of sight of the player. not accurate or particularly efective in RL but in the game it allows clean vision down the centre of the weapon (the game is built round firing guns, 'look down the length' and the bow different RL mechanics dont sit well with that.

2 Minutes in and I'm already done with this. She said a cant of the bow don't give you much, it just looks cool. She has obviously never done traditional archery with instinctive aiming. There are different reasons for canting the bow. One is not to disturb the eye with the bow itself. To get clear vision of the target with both eyes.
