Lopping saws are that shape because they are a pull saw rather than a push saw which most traditional saws are.
To keep the teeth engaged with the material, the saw blade must transcribe the same arc as the arm powering the saw.
Drag your saw slowly across some material you wish to cut and feel how it is the curve that keeps the teeth engaged on and cutting the material. The teeth are cut and sharpened facing the opposite way to a push saw as well. The bevels are on the opposite side of each tooth. The cut is made on the pull stroke and the bevels shed the sawdust out of the cut behind the cutting teeth.

I had a spot in the woods close to my house that have vines and laurels that I was weaving together while it was alive but recently I lost the area to a local tubing business. Once they go away I plan on going back and taking all the stuff I made.

That saw is curved because the surface youre cutting is curved. If it was flat you would only hit the branch in one spot, with the curve it catches all parts of the saw when cutting.

Not really that impressive to be honest, in china the woodcraft is far superior to this basic stuff. Using screws to hold the twigs together even a child can do this.

Wow, very interesting craft. This guy seems like he found the perfect career for himself. Now, can I interest any of you in an extended warranty for your vehicle?

This would be very good for alot of films I think. In fantasy settings like Lord of the Rings. I also think it'd be great to make a restaurant out of this stuff.

Very impressive artwork, I'm touched by Charlie's humble approach to his craft. I wish him the best and hope he is able to have a long and sustainable career.

Tree saws are that shape so that the pressure against the wood is the same in either saw direction of cutting action. forward or backward stroke.
