The terms psychopath and sociopath are often used interchangeably, but there are some distinctions:
1. Origin of Traits: Psychopathy is often considered more genetic or innate, while sociopathy is thought to develop due to environmental factors and upbringing.
2. Emotional Connection: Psychopaths tend to have a diminished emotional capacity and may be more manipulative, while sociopaths may form some attachments and have more erratic behavior.
3. Social Integration: Sociopaths often lead more disorganized lives and can be prone to impulsive actions, while psychopaths might appear more put-together and have better social integration.
4. Violence: Both can engage in harmful behavior, but sociopaths are often more likely to act impulsively and violently, while psychopaths may be more calculated in their actions.
It's important to note that these distinctions aren't universally agreed upon, and the terms are often used interchangeably in both clinical and popular contexts. Additionally, both psychopathy and sociopathy fall under the broader category of Antisocial Personality Disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5.

When there is something wrong with society criminality is a response to it
I find it amazing when you really look at most crimes, past just the crime itself and even the individual that committed the crime you will find it tends to be rooted with a problem in society. A change in the economy and someone loses their job then does something bad. Sure the individual is still guilty, but why we don't try to ever fix the root cause and just focus on blaming that single individual. It's like the world is just obsessed with crime and would rather have fun pointing at bad people then reducing the chances of bad things happening.

Cops don't like citizens to get involved because it exposes their own ineptitude. I have seen more and more cops who can barely investigate a simple traffic offense let alone a real crime. If you are a victim of a crime, you are better off figuring it out yourself. Cops will investigate if they are involved directly. Anything else is hit or miss

I was wondering if there is a strong correlation between USA being a hyper-individualistic society and so many murders. Maybe the killers at some level think they are entitled to being rich and successful financially and in relationships or something and when they figure out they wont ever so then they start to murder?

So the trend in guns was that murders went up and in response people bought the means to protect themselves (guns, and murders went down. The conversation is much longer than this of course but no one wants a Real conversation on this because it's just a political distraction that no one in power wants a resolution to.

Bundy would absolutely get away with it these days because Police Incompetence is just as bad as it has ever been and that's a major factor in why Serial killers got away with stuff. Literally countless accounts of serial killers being stopped mid-crime and being released by cops.

The fact that Americans are generally in favor of an unreviewed part of their constitution that has over 200 years without even questioning it, only speaks of how ignorant in every single aspect of socio-political thinking the American People is. It's a shame

I'm confused. I thought social deviance and anti-social personality disorder was favoured by sociologists and psychologists over psychopathy? I know psychopathy is NOT a mental disorder in the DSM, but anti-social personality disorder is? Did she mix them up?

2: 46 most police officers, they do not like [the citizen sleuths movement which] can end up accusing people who are truly innocent, and that can really destroy lives
But when police commonly make wrongful arrests, it's fine?

Ms. Peterson is a great presenter! I hope there is another installment. I would be interested in her thoughts about the smiley face killer theories, and all the missing, presumed drunk and drowned young men.
