I absolutely love what he said about most problems not being -mental health- but brain (CNS) problems. Which is why psychiatry as it is now needs to disappear: we need neurologists for CNS issues and psychologists for -thoughts and emotions- issues, and we don't need psychiatrists for ANYTHING AT ALL.
I'm also going to take this moment to let everyone know that, if someone tells you they have anxiety, PTSD, depression, executive paralysis or any other problem which doesn't allow them to function properly and is not due to sadness or preoccupation with particular events in their life, if you talk to them as if their problem had anything to do with their thoughts, emotions, attitude or motivation, you are being a VERY BAD PERSON and you'd better zip it!

I'm not a professional but I have a tip similar to the trick of writing down things before going to sleep.
7: 38 If you feel like this sometimes you need to take a step back, relax, and look at the bigger picture, I did that by engaging in meditation.
Take 15 minutes to half an hour to ruminate about something, before you start center yourself with real meditation, sometimes you are just being driven by that lizard brain or your subconscious and you forget why you are so disappointed or pissed at something, doing an exercise like that to collect yourself helps you identify the issue and just that alone alleviates a lot of the pressure.

I'm so glad someone asked about why we don't talk about brain fog and concentration issues more! I have severe treatment resistant depression and anxiety disorder and sometimes in the midst of conversation, I'll just blank on names of people I know, places, movies and music that are favorites. It was very unsettling. I talked to my psychiatrist about it and told him how worried I was about it. He did a wonderful job of explaining what happens to my memory and memory recall when I'm in a bout of severe depression. He recommended I start taking omega 3 rich fish oil and slowly its getting better.

-Amen has built a profitable business around the use of SPECT (single-photon emission computed tomography) imaging for purported diagnostic purposes. [6] His marketing of SPECT scans and much of what he says about the brain and health in his books, media appearances, and marketing of his clinics has been condemned by scientists and doctors as lacking scientific validity and as being unethical, especially since the way SPECT is used in his clinics exposes people to harmful radiation with no clear benefit. Any chance the problem might not be with the mind but with society. I'm all for mind health but with so many people struggling could it be that it's not the brain that is broken but the world? I like the allegory that to fix the world we must fix our self. But obviously one person cannot fix the world. I guess what I am trying to say is that it is irresponsible to talk about mental illness without acknowledging societal illness.

Psychiatry has its origin in chemistry and was applied to biology only as away of covering up or numbing the problem it's a bit like drinking heavily to forget or ignoring the blood thirsty pitbull in front of you it's based on forgetting not recognising psychology is based on discussing and not facing incident head on smoothly I think you should leave old research and really see what's in front of you

I-m a very anxious and stressful person. I deal with extremely negative thoughts, my brain just attacks me almost every second of the day. When I tried the breathing technique, I almost fell asleep! That-s how calm I felt. It was insane, I-m going to keep trying to do this when I-m not feeling good (mentally) which is almost all the time. Thank you so much!

I was on board with most of these things, questioning a few, considering I have a lifetime of experience with my own conditions, until he dissed cov-19 vaccination. I'm not saying a healthy body is not a good defense, but claiming it's the best defense is dangerous, even with this having been posted in June 2020. Plans to buy his book reversed -16: 59.

Can this amygdala hijacking lead people to take drastic and rash decisions? Like ending/dropping out of relationships, stop pursuing dreams, seek a comforting safe routine, regardless of long term benefits or problems it may cause, jumping on a job offer close by rather than a good one? In someone with stress already present pre-pandemic.
