TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE by Solomon Northup - FULL AudioBook. Shocking, disgustedly shocking man inhumanity to his fellow man, this book should be read in all schools, watched the film 12 years a slave, to my shame I'd never heard of Solomon north up I have now, what a incredible man of honour, how many other slaves lived their lives in a state of hell and their story is not told because they were forced to remain illiterate, Solomon northup will, and on behalf of all who live as slaves should never be forgotten

Slavery goes back to the very beginning of time. Egypt was built on slavery. Rome was built on slavery. Soviet Union was built by slavery. England was built with slavery. EVERY NATION WAS BUILT ON THE BLOOD SWEAT TEARS AND EVEN DEATH OF POOR PEOPLE AND UNEDUCATED PEOPLE.
ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS LIVE RACER FAMILIES HAVE A NICE HOME ENJOY THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY NO DIFFERENT THAN TODAY. PEOPLE FORGET THAT MANKIND IS AN ANIMAL. WE ARE MAMMALS. WE ARE AT THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN. MANKIND IS THE ONLY LIVING THING THAT HAS A CONSCIOUSNESS OF CHOICE. WE ARE ABLE TO THINK THROUGH OUR NEXT STEP OF SURVIVAL. SLAVERY HAS NEVER BEEN RIGHT IT'S JUST HISTORY AND IT'S VERY VERY VERY SAD.

The thought of any person who has children being able to separate a slave from his or her children and then live with themselves is to me incomprehensible. It's all I can do to even listen to the parts in this narrative which talk about it. Sometimes I just skipped ahead a minute or two rather than even listen and have to contemplate how the parent suffered. It's hard to imagine these things happening not so long ago.

This is why I am an atheist. For all the horrors of the history of man, for all the injustice and brutality, for all the innocence lost and destroyed, for all the wars fought to subjugate fellow humans, for the cruelty against wildlife, the destruction of our planet for greed. there is no god. There is only THIS and we as intelligent beings have failed miserably on all points.

man is really a wolf to man. the story of Solomon Northup touch me very much. even if it was 2 centuries ago i cant understand why people can be cruel, kill or rape other people and just say its my property. you have 2 kind of men on earth good man like Mr Bass and on the other side bad people like edwin epps. time and history show what category you are in.

My goodness, exactly HOW MANY DOCUMENTS did it take to FREE Solomon Northup from SLAVERY! No wonder it took such a LONG TIME for those authorities to GO GET him. Thank God Almighty that he finally was FREED! But just IMAGINE all of those KIDNAPPED African American who NEVER made it out of BONDAGE! Black people today don't REALIZE how TRULY BLESSED we are!

My issue is after the Civil War Reconstrution when the newly free men were not allowed to keep their land, and were terrorized constantly. Many of the atrocities were state sacntioned and the Federal government did nothing. Most of the land went back to the very same rebels that fought against the Union.

I wanted to compliment the narrator. The English accent really conveyed the proper Grammer that was then real English. This history really shows how far we have sank from using words appropriately. A free'd slave spoke better and proper English than most people I know today.

I hope Master Epps and his evil wife are burning in hell for eternity. its hard to imagine how the slaves endured what they did. this world is too cruel. RIP Patsy. RIP Solomon . their suffering was heartbreaking to listen to

Read this book in 3 days before and now I'm listening to it.
As a mother, my heart aches for eliza
As a human being, I deeply hurt for every single slave who had to live a life of pure hell

Solomon Northup is _TRUE_ American legend! He endured and survived his brutal ordeal but also gave witness to the countless men & women who suffered alongside him His memory is a blessing

No animal can be as devilish as an inhuman, listening to this story is so painful for me. Sometimes I think I am listening to a tale about prisoners of a satanic cult

When you listen to stories like this and you can see the pattern today from so long ago. truth like this make my heart and my soul cry

The Republicans have made it illegal to team about or even mention slavery.
We need to boycott those states.

Look it up, this book was ghost-written by a failed novelist, not the man who it's supposedly the autobiography of.
reply

It is the grooming and slow progression of the captivity of this man which are most disturbing and sickening.
reply

This mean got tricked into slavery and still managed to write a book that I'm listening to almost 200 years later
reply

It is very sad what was happening back then. I'm glad those days are somewhat over.

An African American narrator would give the needed authenticity to this estimable opus.

This makes me so angry at democrats for forming the Confederacy, KKK, and Jim Crow laws.

A man plays a musical instrument to make other people happy, being himself very very sad.

Remember dude, this true story every time you see someone waving a Confederate flag.

What really blows my mind is that this was going on just 200 years ago.
