My favorite J. N. movie is -Five easy pieces-, after a scene of Jack playing in a room a Chopins Prelude in E Minor (with camera rotating of 360 deg) I was searcing few days for the name of that piece. I had impression that Jack realy played (himself) that piece (not requiring any virtuosity) with such simplicity and feeling that, after so namy years and so many different version available, this version is still my favorite. Please, somebody let me now who was playing this Prelude in a movie? -Five easy pieces- and -Easy rider- were both presented on a 1. FEST Festival in Belgrade in 1971. and Jack spent few days in Belgrade, he camed as a relatively unknown artist and then recognised as a first class and most loved actor in Yugoslavia.

Aaron Eckhard told once that he was telling Nicholson how he grew up watching him in Last Detail, Carnal Knowledge, five easy pieces and so forth. and Nicholson responded -As i always said, kid. i dont make movies. i make classics! -. ahahah. Like it or not, Jack was right. I cant think of another actor who acted in more classics hollywood movies than Nicholson (Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, Chinatown, Cuckoos Nest, The Shining, Reds, Terms of Endearment, Batman, A few Good Men, As good as it gets, The Departed, and im not counting Nicholson's -gems- (Carnal Knowledge, Marvin Gardens, The Last Detail, The Passenger, The Border, Ironweed, The Plegde, About Schmidth.

Considering the Jack Nicholson catalogue of very good films is extremely good and contains 5 classics One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Easy Rider, Chinatown, Five Easy Pieces and The Shining it's amazing that list of ten has a few stinkers in it. Maybe not great films but his performances The Pledge and About Schmidt are among his best. I've named 7 so to fill out my list I'll go The Last Detail The Departed and well the there's quite a few other very good films.

The King of Marvin Gardens is without a doubt one of Nicholson-s best roles. He is understated and completely in character. It-s easy for Nicholson to chew up the scenery, but bringing it inside with restraint, that-s the rub.
In that vein I would also include About Schmit and Missouri Breaks.

Just shows how great Jack is. Terms of endearment, the Last detail and About Schmidt are high on other lists. But not even on others. He-s just a terrific actor. A Few Good Men is overrated. Jack had 15 minutes of screen time.

I loved Randle McMurphy is OFOTCN but for some reason I am parial to Garrett Beedlove in Terms of Endearment. Just love his character and performance to pieces. He was and will always be my favorite actor.

Huge Nicholson fan the man is an icon. Cuckoo's Nest undoubtedly is his best performance but I would also have About Schmidt, The Last Detail and Prizzi's Honor in his top 10 all-time

Jack stole the show in Easy Rider with a small walk-on role. After that there was no actor to compare to him for more than a decade. When Jack goes there will never be another.
