How to draw a professional comic book cover! Alex: Cool man. I think you need to do more like this where you've kept the face less shadowy and all the details are in the bodies. I like that look. Helpful tip if you do more covers for IDW is that never plan for the logo to crop the image because that's what you've seen. They have been doing things lately where they do that for some covers, but not for others. Just make sure whatever you put in that area you're ok with being covered a bit. Thats what I do: ) I hope you get more covers. I think your style would work best with covers for Optimus Prime book since you mentioned already that Kei has a style similar to yours. Also you draw a good Prime: )
I gotta say that drawing double the size is understandable if you feel more comfortable doing that and you want more space to draw, but double the size, equals double the time. I wouldn't recommend doing that all the time otherwise you'll run into problems if you were doing a full book.
One day I'm going to get you to work with a brush and ink to fill in the blacks and away from sharpies: p that is a life goal of mine: p
great stuff all the same.

James i m writing/drawing/coloring my first comic ever and i want to release it to different free sites out there. The problem is that i m slow as i am a self taught artist BUT i m working with all my heart on my story. I m planning to release it page by page and my question is should i release each page whenever is done or should i prepare lets say 20 pages in order to be ahead and release it every week? Thank you you inspired me to start and that is one awesome cover. :)

Hey James, I can't find any videos on traditional comic book coloring. Can you point me in the right direction? I've seen artists use markers at conventions, but is that what they used to use in their studios too? They look painted to me. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help give me info.

Great stuff here! I also like that Ultra Magnus cover you did for Lost Light #7. Recognized your style immediately! I just can't believe how cartoony the inside art is, almost like the cover and inner art don't gel well.

James my favorite character in the transformer universe is Starscream. You rendered him perfectly. Although I haven't bought a transformers comic in years if I see this one I will be buying it. Awesome job!

Do you have any videos of real time inking, i love these videos too but I find i learn alot from watching inking in real time too. Just curious. Love your work as always.

Good drawing, but this fails in a number of ways. The middle of his chest doesn't look like a cockpit, his wings are to short and no guns. Good but wasn't done right.

Your inking is not the greatest, haha! Dude i love your inking. Its messy-clean which is interesting. Being too perfect can be a headache when drawing. :)

Thanks for showing the process. Learned a lot from this, and the drawing turned out awesome. Starscream is one of my top 5 favorite transformers.

So good, but the things I don't like is the short wings, the three parts going over the plane canopy on his chest and having no guns on his arms.
