Anime to western style! Drawing luffy in fourth gear from one piece! Bruhamut: The only issue I have with this drawing is that the arms still look flesh-textured. Their black/red appearance comes from a technique that hardens the body to an almost steel-like state, and I think that would be shown more in an american style of drawing. Otherwise, you nailed it. The shape and shading is wonderful; the only issue that came up is because you don't know the background of the character and this form.

my opinion is, luffy always, always looks pissed in his gear 4th. those absolute 2 half-moon inward-tilted eyes and a frowning mouth are mandatory. would really like to see it with the default, but western style (your style) expression. this one looks like he's just bumped off a man while taking a stroll, while he should look like he someone who had his new white sneakers steppen on. anyway i still like this!

I think for animate characters in western style successfully you have to know the characters first and love them. This piece doesn't look like Luffy for me, the face is wrong. looks more like a weird hulk. Is to square, too old and don't have the emotion of the character. And you missed the scar because you are not following the adventures of Luffy for the last two decades.

Cool drawing but some of his key features especially around the face is missing along with the fact that he's 19, in this drawing he doesn't look 19: / anyway, the arms are on point tho
So the scar under his eye and the eye shading - which is the most iconic facial features of luffy and in this form.
Also you pronounced his name wrong: )

why is that a flower and not a sunflower on his clothes? BTW I have no right to critic as I can hardly draw anything, but the face just doesn't look like Luffy at all (even though it is in western style. it lacked something but i dunno what it is that can capture Luffy's essence even in a western style.

I prefer luffy in manga style because the jaquet of flowers is more perturbating with western style because it's a badass style but not a T-shirt of flowers. but it's a GOOD JOB!

I think you should really know how old the character is before you draw them. It seems Luffy looks too old, and not as round-faced. He is a rubber man after all.
