Being nice is seriously key. That coupon thing is so true. I will give you the best prices if you are nice. If you yell at me, I think I need to check with the manager and have someone walk all the way back to check the price so you can wait ten minutes or more. If you are nice, I will probably change the price then and there and not care. And yes there is nothing in the back except for toilet paper and dog food I promise. Stop asking.

along with being nice to your fellow retail workers dont make them feel bad because they tried to help you find something with the BEST of their ability and still can get what you want because i promise you 1. we dont care to begin with we kinda just work there 2. were not corporate so if youre mad about something that you thought we had and we dont call corporate because theyre the ones that make the big bucks not us: )

As a former retail worker I'd also like to point out that IF there is stuff in 'the back' I was not allowed to get it. For example, video games that get 'released' on a certain day. They were locked up and only the manager had the keys. Also, if it was my job to be 'on the floor' helping customers 'leaving' to 'go to the back' was seen as misconduct that could get me written up or fired.

Please dont be rude to us. Im tired of having breakdowns when I go on my meal because customers dont listen to me. Im just trying to help, but if youre rude I will ask you to find someone else or leave. And dont try to fool me saying it was under a sign saying 50%, cuz we update the system daily to reflect sale prices. So I will know if youre trying to trick me.

The part where she says theres no back room. um no there is a back room. I worked in retail and yes sometimes I would actually go dig deep there and see if a size or item that isnt on the floor is back there. Yes more often than not, it usually isnt but to say the room doesnt exact isnt correct. It definitely does in some stores.

Ive heard the Dont ask us to look in the back because theres nothing there. And I have friends who work in retail so I know for the most part its true.
BUT the few times I do ask they usually have the item in the back. Maybe its because its usually shoe stores so they really do have excess in the back, I dunno.

its true. as a retail worker the minute i sense an attitude when all ive done is be kind to you im switching to idc what you want or need im rushing to get you tf outta here. if they were kind ive even used my staff discount card on their shopping so it pays to be AT THE LEAST a decent human being.

I used to work at the UPS store and people are MEAN mean. Like if youre going to try to come in on Christmas Eve and yell at the employees for not getting your international package shipped by Christmas youre a terrible human. Basically, be nice to retail and mail workers during the holidays!

They forgot to mention that when someone is a rude/nasty/living nightmare customer they will be mocked after the fact with out mercy. The story of their visit will be told to other employees and with every retelling the impersonation of that gets a little more over the top.
