Thank you for the important historical fact for context! Blacks weren't allowed in National parks until about 50 years ago. hearing Black folks don't camp makes more sense now eventhough some of us do. Discrimination paired with worry for your safety (for good reason) would be a justifiable reason why a lot of Black folk don't camp.

I don't really like how hard for they made it for them on there first trip I just feal like this makes them not. Want to go camping again when it can be much easier.

Did you guys have pads under your sleeping bags? If you didn't, that may have been why all of you were so cold. Those pads are used for insulation purposes.
