I feel Cricket's moms! I have a Shih Poo and JUST today I have been trying ALL day to find a damn groomer open and taking new clients because my poor dog is all matted too. It has been HELL! I was about to give up and shave him myself too but THANKFULLY I found a groomer. Lol.

I dont understand how people let their dogs get mats? like you shouldn't be having a dog if you can't even do the basics of grooming, everyone should know how to use a brush and how to clip around dogs eyes, it annoys me that people cant do the basics for their pets

Please be careful when you're cutting your dogs hair at home. Clipped blades can get very hot so make sure you check the heat every minute or 2. Please be careful around the face, I've seen so many dogs in the ER with clipped tongues and cut ears from grooming.

PLEASE DONT DO THIS! DO NOT USE MY FAVORITE GROOMER AS A REFERENCE EITHER! Brush your pets daily and walk them on cement multiple times a week. This will keep the matting and long nails at bay until groomers are allowed to open again!

As a dog groomer I actually really like people trying to groom their own dogs because they realise how difficult it is and people respect us more. Also if people choose to groom their own dog and they like it then yay more money saved for you!

I trim my sheltie all the time. My girl gets a little scraggly when her hair gets long, so I trim the hair back in a show trim style, and she looks thick fabulous! I even trim back her butt/pants from squares to circles.

Bear's mama did so well! I honestly think dogs can sense their owner's anxiety so her being calm helped a lot. He was also used to home haircuts

YEP! Cricket's moms are my EXACT life! Lol. I tried shaving my dog and the clippers sucked. They did not get through the matted parts AT ALL.
