A whole civilization of roaches evolved enough to build a rocket-ship, and then got onboard it as a whole civilization, and abandoned the planet of their birth. And all while mankind slumbered, blissfully unaware of them as they had already abandoned their world for a world of make-believe. Makes you question who's the more advanced species, doesn't it

Well, the video certainly captures some of the horrid mobilities of the dreadful little buggers. The creepy-fast zipping around, the stop-start-stop movements; everything that makes the little critters so repugnant. yet, somewhat cute as presented in this production.

A bit of a puzzle - have I got this right:
The human race has embedded itself in a virtual reality dreamworld, fed by pipes (just like in the The Matrix, and then the roaches were free to evolve (among us ) without anyone noticing

Yes time after time we hear NASA gets$ for this or that. then later. canceled. postponed. I'm afraid either they CANT say what they did. OR all$ was slowly redirected into like, cross walk signs and street lights.

Red Dwarf, a BBC program has a similar premise. All the humans, save one, on a spaceship die. The pregnant ship's cat evolves and in a million years, a human like cat is there to meet the thawed out man.

Thirty years ago, I wore a pin-on button that said, ''Nuke, nuke, who's there Just us cockroaches. '' BTW Why is it that men who have been in space or asleep for years never need a shave when they wake up

I have always thought that if some how only one roach survived all the killings, that the Government will find out that they saved us from something fatal. and spend billions of dollars to save them!
reply

this was AMAZING! i’m an adult (by the say of the government) and so it’s really cool to think about how i would’ve watched this and how i can show to others!

I have only been following DUST for about 2 years but this is in my top 10. The way emotion was conveyed with the antenna on the roaches was awesome. Great job!
reply

One of the best shorts are mostly without words, that leaves more room for emotions, actors, music - genious piece of work!
reply

Tardigrades beat them to the moon.
Nothing makes you suddenly, fully awake than your cat bringing you a tree roach at 3am.

reply

just shows you when a species finds individualism how it advances and when one becomes a slave to a hive mind and devolves.
reply

I'll keep that in mind. If i see next time roaches at home, i let them some time to fly to the moon, before i step on them.
reply

Where can I buy a little, collectible toy Rocket Roach I'm serious! If they don't exist, Then I'm gonna make one.
reply

Big moves happening to get them into your (not their's) diet. So hold off giving out names of affection.
reply

Cute.
I expected the German movie's funny moon face at the end. Still, a hopeful ending is good, too.

reply

Wonder Full. Reminds me of the book 'The Cockroaches of Stay More', by Donald Harington. Different, but.
reply

Interesting film, very reminiscent of the Japanese anime film 'Twilight of the Cockroaches' I think.
reply

Won’t the roachenaughts be disappointed when they find out the moon isn’t made of cheese.
reply

Its the first time ever i am reading positive views on roaches. what the world has come to. aye
reply

Haha, then every last roach asphyxiated as soon as they opened the hatch on moon. Oops.
reply

They and the Rats, Virus, and Fungus will survive the most earth catastrophes! But not the Humans!
reply

I have a friend that constantly reminds me that roaches will eventually inherit the earth.
reply

I guess the lesson here is that real reality is more interesting than virtual reality.
reply

Fun. Enjoyed. (Note: continuity mistake at end when man no longer has bandage on finger.
reply

I’ve crossed paths with a few Palmetto bugs that seemed as intelligent as aliens.
reply

this will be the horor film for the girls where cockroaches are everywhere
reply

I would have loved an Alien type scenario with cockroaches instead of xenomorphs.
reply

More like cartoon fantasy than Science Fiction but it was cool to watch.
reply

How bad is the Earth when even the cockroaches are determined to leave it
reply

Ha Ha! Not at ALL what I was expecting. very cute! Children would LOVE this!
reply

If you think roaches are really that easy to get rid of. Think again!
reply

I cant stand roaches, but I loved every minute of this. Great job.
reply

Compassionate, intelligent roaches. I wonder how ants made out.
reply
