A teenage boy awakens in a sinister hospital to learn his mother was killed in a horrific car accident. An apocalyptic nightmare and another patient’s shattered memory may hold the key to unlocking the secrets behind The Roma Project. The Roma Project by Harry Keenan & Evan Scott Russell : More About The Roma Project: In the summer of 1978, a thought-abandoned military research facility vanished without a trace. The details of these events, which led to the unsolved disappearances of over a dozen civilians and government officials have never been disclosed until now

They want to awaken his powers, and hope he doesn't remember the accident that killed his mother. An accident that wasn't an accident but a way for them to get rid of a mother who was protecting her son from the government. Because she knew the powers her son might have. And a power they found out the hard way, that he did have.
His power manifests in the room after he remembers the accident, and in trying to restrain him he knocks the two men onto their butts.
Then after getting Sam they try to take him again, only to get another taste of his powers. Now if he's already put four guys on their butts without touching them, does it really make sense to try and take him physically again Especially when his eyes light up because he's ticked.
Was there about to be, clean up on aisle three.

Like most DUST films this leads into a much larger story but does 't finish the story. The rest is left to the imagination. I think I like it that way. That said, we are just scratching the surface of the human mind. Who knows what we are capable of. That could be really great. Then again. We've seen some things people have done that was great for humanity and some things that were terrible. We can only hope some things will be for the betterment of us.

It was more of a trailer than a short story. No defined beginning or end. It didn't feel like a cliffhanger, the story just stopped. It's not that I didn't like it, the opposite in fact. I did like it and agree with what a lot of others have already said. It just felt incomplete. I don't see producers being willing to put money into this project without a clear plot line. If you have more, I would really love to see how it frames the story.

This reminded me a lot of Firestarter with Drew Barrymore. In that film, both her and her father had some kind of kinetic powers. It took more of a toll on her father. He would get nosebleeds when he used his power.
The actor was good in this, but he comes under the category of hair actors. He kept pushing his fingers through his flowing hair, too much. It was distracting.

Got on a Dust watching binge. 8: 22 am and have watched 11 shorts alreadyBeen up since beyond the butt crack of dawn. Truly enjoy the shorts but my only problem is that many are cliff hangers and your wondering if it will be a series. Many are worthy of a full length feature, a series. They could put Hollyweird to shame.
reply

It is very frustrating to the viewer. Most of the shorts are made to
get attention for the producers, and followup on the stories are almost
non-existent. I say almost because I figure that maybe some have
gained attention and continuation/sequels, though I know of none.

If an Adam Sandler looking dude is trying to give me an injection, I’m gonna come out swinging.
Why do they have actors/actresses dye their hair yet leave everything else natural. It’s shotty work.
And what about the aged Vince Vaughan knock off

I'm thinking he's an alien, but doesn't know it yet. The question is, is the mom alive Will he and the girl have hybrid kids Will they ever find each other What's gonna happen with the man with the glasses How did the mom and her son get here This is good

Definitely got Akira vibes with a heavy overtone of Stranger Things government facility coverup/cause. Was Sam the one creating the forcefield or was it all him and she was just collateral Leaves me wanting more. Great job.

. and right there at the end, starting with his eyes he turned into a pillar of fire, and then collapsed in ashes. (oh, and simultaneously, the hearts of all the guys in the hall burst inside of their bodies)

Great cinematography, but this was very hammy and utterly boring right up to the point of annoyance. The technical crew and actors would profit from a better script.

Once again another DUST short film that is either depressing, needlessly vague conclusion or dystopian.
Only once I stumbled on a happy ending post.

reply

Sadly I got the feeling early on that this was going to be one of those short films without a proper resolution, so I skipped through. yep.

I have sometimes wondered if a person with abilities would have to spend much of their time fending off the gubmint. Pretty good effort!

The lead actor reminds me very much of Henry Thomas who played Elliott in ET.
I would very much like to see more of this one!

reply

Man, I got so invested in this. I really, really want to see the rest. This is SO worth making it into a complete full length movie.
reply

Most of the dialog volume is too low. The rest is at a normal volume. I gave up on repeatedly changing the volume halfway through.

I'm sorry the boy was mad at his Mom, he had a power within him he didn't know he had. And now he's understanding that. Good Story!

Having tinnitus, that noise that started around 5: 15 made this unwatchable for me. Triggered excruciating pain in ears. Sigh.

Great work! It leaves you wanting to know that is coming next. I hope there will be a next! Congratulations!

Very cool. Would like to see more. Don't over do it with the super powers. Has to be somewhat believable.

These creators have vision. great job everyone and kudoes to Dust for bringing them out

I would be very suspicious of a hospital or similar facility that was so poorly lit.
reply

You have got to make this a full length movie! Can't leave us hanging like this!

When a shrink says take the pills and smiles, you probably shouldn't take them
reply

Wonder why he never questioned being in a special facility instead of a normal hospital.
reply

I'm not too sure I'm at ease with cliff-hanger 'endings' of this complexity. ..

All these DUST short films are like a really long trailer of an EPIC SciFi movie
