Evolution of Skateboard Games 1986-2020 I remember getting Grind session after I completed Tony hawk 2. Grind session was a highly under rated skate game and thats when I was introduced to Daewon Song seeing his real life skating video on there and I remember thinking at the time he is abit like Rodney Mullen in a way. Then some years later I remember hearing that Rodney skated with him a fair bit when Daewon was young and Rodney actually pointed out to people in the skating industry take note of him and they did then not long after Daewon became a professional skateboarder and was on the front of skating magazines. Then we started seeing the Rodney v Daewon legendary videos part 1 and 2 and then finally almost round 3. Obviously Rodney was my favourite but to me as a street skater at the time Daewon was the next closest in terms of that style of street skating which itself back then was unique, even though in reality nobody was close to Rodneys street skating style. But yes Grind Session was legendary for its time and was just behind Tony hawk 2 and had things that you couldnt do on Tony hawk 2 and vice versa.\r\n

If only they still put songs like this etc, that we grew up with today. And not just because they are good, but kids today need to learn how to be more rebel-like. That they are allowed to rebel, and say fu, I do my own shit. and you know. Be more chill. Not so freaking ''serious'' and competitive. That you're allowed to be akid and have fun, and to don't give damn if someone don't like youre style, who you are and how you live youre life. Seriously. These games, together with skating helped me, maybe not so much to mature, but that to. I mean, to care more about what I want to do, not base youre life around everyone else.
I'm like that today. I've matured, or. I've become a grown up kid that still knows to have fun, with a lot oflife experience, that came from trying and failing over and over again. Which i still do. And likethat is why i was and am able to have fun, even if my life isn't materialistically perfect.

Skate 1 was the first amazing skate game. As a kid I played a lot Skate or Die. It was the best game back then.
THPS was cool at the beginning. But annoying after a while. Too unrealistic.
Session is way better than SkaterXL. SkaterXL is a big disappointment. It's cool with mods, but too many bugs. Feels like a bad beta version.

I-m missing MTV Sports Skateboarding. It wasn-t the best but at least on par with skate & destroy. Also: the devs who created that Skate(Board)park manager had neither seen a skatepark or a skateboard. That bit was cringe: D

Skate's 2's San Van felt so much more like a city than Skate 3's Port Carverton. I like both, but Skate 3 just tried to make every location 200% wider & longer, which felt like a cheap way of making the city bigger

It's so sad that even though tony hawks pro skater series was the one that started and set the bar for 3d skating games it's slowly declining in both quality and improvements. The remakes didn't help either

until 2007 skate were kinda soft ain't them? Skate 2 the best skate game ever in history > skate 3
Edit: even in 2015 still have that unreal nonsense combos bouncing in a vertical wall? -- bruh

Dude Top Skater was one of the best, and still is. I would still play that game with the same exact level of excitement I had when I first played it. So fun! It's like you're skating in real life

Skate was pretty crazy when it came out. In my opinion I think THPS2 had the biggest impact. That game was rediculous when it came out, everyone played it all the time

You missed skate it ds (terrible) and Shawn white skateboarding wii (interesting but also terrible) both were even shittier Nintendo alternatives to the originals.

Of course Disney-s Extremely Goofy Skateboarding isn-t on the list. That was the first skater game I played. It hasn-t aged well, but the music is good!

Tony Hawks project 8 is underrated. Its easy to overlook it, especially in this video but was/still is very fun with a lot of sick maps and details.

Some forgotten early ones: the half pipe event in California Games (1987) and Skate or Die 2 (1990. SoD2 had a killer backyard ramp session.

Top skater was so good at the arcade, I just remember walking in and seeing on the skateboard you could stand and my eyes getting wide

its tragic how horrifically bad THPS 5 was, but the remake of 1 and 2 was immaculate! Hopefully this means new beginnings for the series

I remember when i first saw the EA Skate trailer. I was in shock, it actually looked realistic unlike other skateboard games at the time.

amazing, bt some of these clips were just horrendous.
Like ProSkater 1 and American wasteland. those clips were -GARBAGE-

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for Nintendo DS is still the greatest skating game in history
(Only '90s babies will agree though)

I just got the THPS1+2 remaster and then looked up the original footage. Can't believe how bad the old ones look in comparison

I didn-t realise how many tony hawk games came out before skate 1. Skate just destroyed all of them in my mind hahaha

As a skater that I am I came here to point it out. Thrasher was waaaaay ahead of any skateboard game until 2000's.

Actually kind of impressed with the quality of skate games before Tony Hawk Pro Skater came out, I had no idea
