The original Age of Empires was released in 1997 and it was truly revolutionary back then, let-s see how this classic franchise evolved over the years!

I made a scenario in AoE 2 definitive edition you had a small group of people exiled from the big city you must build up an army and then recruit other exiles on the way while dealing with archer towers, military checkpoints, a fort and some wild critters once the king is dead the priest you started with will become king and you-ll be back into society! Or at least that-s how the lore would go you could just build a a dozen barracks and spam out troops to just overwhelm the military and win with an army of -men at arms-

This video seems to me a bit to much like an advertisement. Yes, of course this series was and is still great. But there are of course also negative points, which you could mention. For example the pathifinding in aoe1 was really bad (and is even in the aoe1 definitive edition still today. Aoe3 was stronlgy criticized by fans, because in their opinion this game had not the spirit of the old games.

The last I never heard of looks terrible it should have been the next new age of the Civil War revolution War THEN the Civil War THEN coming into ww1 at least they made Age of empires for ww1 rise of War machines but I guess they didn't really care why did they stop making such good games i loved playing them all 1, 2, and 3

In 1999, my gf introduced me to aoe1.
Soon she regretted her decision as I started playing the game for hours.
Ultimately, she wanted me to choose between her and the game.
Best decision ever. 23 years later and I'm still playing the franchise.
Sorry, Edith.

Like others have said, this video really should have done more highlighting of the expansion packs and the HD remasters. Age of Empires Online also deserves a mention. Plus, if you're going to mention the shutdown of Ensemble Studios, you need to at least mention Halo Wars.

Also, I love how AoE III has better scaling when it comes to boats and ships. Instead of ships that was built like former titles, AoE III introduced size of ships that vary from small like boats for fishing and scouting to very big like monitor and Man o' War.

You're missing a lot of info for AoE 3, there were 2 expansions for original the game. The Asian Dynasties, and the War Chiefs. In Definitive edition, they added more civilizations such as United States, Swedish, Mexico, Ethiopia, and Hausa.

Actually in AOE 3, the second age was the Colonial Age for - 15 years, until the woke crowd appeared. You can't make just disappear every word that someone disagrees with, or doesn't like, or, at some point, we won't have any words left.

You didn't make it clear enough (imo) that the wonders in AoE2 are all civ-specific
You could have also talked more about the expansions and definitive editions, especially the fact AoE2 and AoE3 are still getting new expansions.

I wish someone made Age of Empires V focusing on the timeline from the start of the Barbarian age to the fall of the Roman Empire all the way to the viking age.
Basically i want the new age of Empires to focus on the Viking age.

-NOT a fan of the fake social justice warrior political agenda distorting history. -
The 4th game brainwashes players into believing that the past was about diversity and equality, which is the exact opposite of truth.

I wished I had played more or had tried more multiplayer games in over somewhat twenty years of playing them. That's right two decades now, ever since I saw my uncle play it. But oh well, I still had a hell of a time.

Great video, however you could've mention Age of Empires Online, or the remasters of AoE2 & 3.
One addition: Warcraft was never turn-based, it was among the first RTS games, alongside Dune II and Command&Conquer

How about Operation Flashpoint. .. Arma 3. Perhaps already 2023 a Arma 4 sequel? Behind-the-scenes story from the origins of DayZ are super interesting. So, with DayZ there would be another sequel.

Actually Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is the most popular version for e-sport gamers in this series. Yes, this game belongs to E-sports with price pools and everything.
reply

-A MINOR mistake. -
Warcraft has never been turn-based. So AoE was really similar. Though Warcraft was a copy of Dune 1/2. Thus, AoE is Civilisation over Dune/Warcraft.

First played this series with the original aoe2 due to my dad introducing it to me when I was a toddler. 16 year later, and I-m still playing this masterpiece. Thanks dad

25yrs on and I still play AOE even after beating all scenario-s and expansions, I-ve also played and completed all AOE II, AOE III, AOE IV, imho best RTS game ever.
reply

I like your videos, but the most popular one that is played right now, AOE 2: Definitive Edition, isn't mentioned. Neither are the major expansions or the HD editions.

One serie i played and loved was the spin off of command and conquer. the red alert series. i use to play that game for hours. i would love to see a review like this one

Now with this game evolution done, I now think we need to have a Secret of Monkey Island evolution because Return to Monkey Island just released.

Man, this was one hell of a trip down memory lane - Me and my dad have played every single Age title except Age of Empires 4

Really Bad narration, if you want to spoil a classic, have this dude narrate anything, he can turn anything into shit.
reply

Believe or not I'm still playing since 97. Watch me twitch. tv/kerpoaoe. I was 5 years old when i first played aoe1.

Age of Empires 2 was the first game I ever fell in love with. I wish I could find it and play it again on my PC.

I still remember 7 year old me and my big brother playing age of empires after school for hours and hours: )
