30 strange gaming controllers you probably don't remember

Video game controllers have existed since the dawn of gaming, but it wasn't always so simple. Here are some strange attempts at revolutionizing the controller Zen: On item #26....
This device was also available for the PC as the InterAct handheld racing controller -- unlike the console version, the PC model was a much simpler 4-button controller (w/ a 2-way analog trigger that was used for both the accelerator & brakes / reverse).
Pros:
- It's a handheld racing controller, of course! No need to take up space on your computer desk & clamp anything!
- SRP was around US $20 which made it the least expensive option for a PC racing controller.
Cons:
- Whichever hand U weren't using to work the steering -wheel- was working the dual-action trigger, operating the buttons -and- holding the controller - the same time! After an hr or more of gaming, this resulted in painful muscle cramps.
- The InterAct PC model has not aged well -- after a yr or so of usage, the steering -wheel- can & usually does develop issues where it generates glitchy input signals. Now that it has long since gone out of production & been off the retail market, this racing controller isn't something U can go out & buy a replacement for anyway, which means U would have to purchase it off of the (most likely) used market
...but even if U could, would U really want to?

Good list but you need to do your research better, the NeGcon was an excellent controller for Ridge Racer, Wipeout, etc. It may seem counter intuative but the twist felt really natural for driving games and it had analogue buttons for better speed and breaking control.

The Power Glove was actually great for landing the jet on the aircraft carrier in Top Gun ..... for reasons that nobody that ever worked for Nintendo can explain, but that alone made it greatness cuz that shit was damn near impossible with the control pad .

I wanted to get the Gamestar PS2 controller because it looked really damn cool. I got the Wireless Logitech ps2 controller instead. It was pretty cool, but I often think about what could have been.

I'm sure someone mentioned it. But the Steel Battalion Xbox Controller. Thing had what like 200+ buttons, knobs, levers and such to realistically control one Mech game. Plus it was a monstrosity.

The neGcon controller worked above and beyond for racing games. It only took about 1 minute to get used to and suddenly you could play Wipeout or Ridge Racer with an unparalleled ease.

You see kids, when a Xbox controller and a really old controller like the Super Nintendo really loves each other, they give birth to this: 0:53
