In all fairness with Scorn, a lot of people go into it treating it as an FPS survival horror where taking out enemies is an important goal, but the enemies are another part of the puzzle, many of them can be avoided, patiently waited out or dealt with in other ways that don't include taking them head on. There are a few exceptions but even then the game gives you the tools necessary to deal with them. One example that comes to mind is a jump scare from one of the larger enemies in the mid-late game, not long after acquiring a newer, more powerful weapon, and if you managed to not go wild with said weapon early on, you have more than enough ammo to manage this particular encounter.
Anyone who liked the idea of Scorn but got frustrated with the combat portion, I encourage you to try it again but think about enemy encounters in a different way. You'll likely have more success.

I liked Callisto Protocol a lot. It's always kind of bummed me out that the public opinion seems to be generally negative.
After you get used to it, the combat loop is really fluid and fun - the problem is that towards the end of the game, they throw a lot more enemies at you in small spaces, and the combat doesn't work as well with multiple enemies in your face. I soft-locked myself in a spot of the DLC because I had no ammo and a sliver of health and had to go back to a previous checkpoint. The main character is intolerable and doesn't ever improve, and the story isn't any sort of literary masterpiece, but I was hooked the whole time regardless - there's something to the environments and how the story is laid out that kept me wanting to see what was next.

I was bored silly with Visage. The insanely slow movement was ridiculous. By the time I'd walked from the top of a staircase to the bottom, I was yawning.
There's no indication as to what order is best when working through the chapters and I started with the Rekkan chapter, which I've since understood is one of the worst, but I had no desire to go back and start again.
When the enemy turns up you just slow-walk in the opposite direction til he disappears. Unless there's an invisible wall or three-inch high object to impede your progress.
And the sanity meter is such BS. I'm not frightened but apparently my player character is. It was just such a fake game mechanic that I couldn't take it seriously.

I remember complaining that the evil within was too easy. I think having played so much resident evil 5 and 6, i got accustomed to the stun into melee gameplay loop, and so once i found out that you could one shot most enemies if you stunned them with the crossbow, it made the game way easier than it seemed it was meant to be. just round up enemies into one place, flash arrow them, and one shot, if you do it right, you can set them all on fire with the same match too.

Scorn isn't hard. People just don't realize that you're not meant to fight 90% of the enemies. You just get out of their line of sight. They walk a specific, usually very short path, before exiting the area through gaps in the wall. And they never come back. Also, if you are going to fight the enemies, you need to hit their weak points. Most of them can be killed instantly. There is a logic to what their weak spots are.

I cant speak for every game here but The Evil Whitin on Normal it's not that hard but yeah AKUMU is something else I have the platinum trophy for this game and AKUMU was the bane of my existence for amolst 2 years. I can also speak for Alien Isolation to be honest i didn't think it was all that hard ever on Nightmare difficulty I also have the platinum trophy for it as well and it was nowhere near as hard as The Evil Whitin.

9: 45 Just playing through Visage is like solving an extremely complicated easter egg
Visage is one of my favorite horror games of all time and this statement is very true sometimes However, I do encourage people to try and solve the puzzles yourself first. That being said, there were some easter eggs I'm sure I wouldn't have found within reasonable time if I hadn't used a guide.

So like Falcon, when do get all the other weapons in The Callisto Protocol, since all have is a gun. And that gravity hand thing, which kinda reminds of the Jedi stuff from Fallen Order and Survivor, since in the original Dead Space that whole gravity hand thing, well you pick up thing s and move things around. But the original Dead Space was sweet, and I bet Falcon loved that game too.

Can your editor make it so your voice is louder than the music and audio fun the game segments It's impossible to listen to some sections without headphones due to the audio discrepancies.
This happens often at the start of Gameranx videos, and it's off-putting enough there. It's even worse when it's further in the video as well.

I'm talking out of my ss and if you know, you know and if you don't then please try your very best just to ignored it because I could be just as insignificant to your 'being' or life mission(s, etc. and the game(s) does/did not want me to die, some players (player haters) and not just wanting me to but needing me to die.

World War Z should be on this list I just beat it last night. on the easiest difficulty and HOLY CRAP! You will die A LOT!
The only episode I could beat without dying was the last Moscow episode LOVE World War Z, though, and I can't wait to see how difficult it is on the hardest difficulty!

I played Callisto Protocol after the qol changes. It was much harder to beat earlier from what I heard.
Melee make so much sense, so I never got the hate for it. The ambush by the hoard was the worst part for me. I thought I was ready. I didn't think that a few hours later.

I see an image from Scorn, I click. It's that simple. That game doesn't get the recognition it deserves because it's so misunderstood. People go into the game with expectations of X instead of an open mind. IT'S NOT AN FPS! Or rather, not unless you want it to be.

Callisto Protocol is an amazing game with a great story, and excellent and challenging gameplay. The hate this game gets, ESPECIALLY FROM FALCON is obnoxious imo. The game IS SUPPOSED TO BE FRUSTRATING, ITS A SURVIVAL HORROR FALCON ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EASY DUDE!

Visage is ridiculous. I absolutely love the story and the atmosphere. But the gameplay is just awful; it took me out of the atmosphere so many times. Visage is one of the best horror games of current times. just if you can get past the mechanics.

Anyone else confused about Scorn being on this list
For me it was mildly challenging at most till I realized combat was almost entirely optional, and could be skipped with a little bit of patience.
I would give this spot to Sweet Home instead.

I wish you would either stop playing music in the background or turn it down some because it makes it hard to hear you at times. Like for instance number 5 was wicked loud. I love the content but just would love to hear you. Amazing videos.

I'm really surprised you put alien isolation as number 1! I Normally don't play horror survival games but i love the alien franchise and i didn't think the game was THAT hard. i feel like outlast or scorn looks and sounds more scary and difficult

Scorn was a great experience but the combat was awful and really took me out of it. I would have prefered no combat or something more interesting in its place. Still enjoyed the boss fight, but getting there was a horrible slog.
