GS Manager here: in my area area we still haven’t been told if any specific store are closing, but we we told the company had a set profit goal for a store (it’s the same for every store and I’m not going to say the amount here, and essentially if you don’t hit that profit goal for your store or close to it there’s a high chance of closure. So, with December ending most managers have a good idea of if there store(s) will be closing or not. I think it’s a good thing, because in theory what should be left should be the stores that are actually making money, meaning GS will be more profitable. And a lot of stores are actually seeing very good profit increases right now too with the shift towards trading cards. It’s not ideal, but you need something else that makes money if people aren’t buying as many physical games. I manager 2 stores right now that it’s been great for and I know those stores are for sure not closing.

I know my opinion doesn't actually matter, and I would eventually like an Oblivion remake, but I wish Bethesda would sit on an Oblivion remake little bit longer. Personally, I think we really need a Daggerfall, or even more so, a Morrowind remake first. Oblivion is still a great game that is completely playable. Where as Morrowind and Daggerfall have not aged well and could really use some modern game design implamented into them. Even just having them graphically updated and fully voiced would go a long way. Then throw in an updated quest tracking system and maybe streamline the spells a bit more (but not too much) and you would have something magical. Morrowind is one of, if not my favorite game of all time, and even I struggle to play it these days. but Oblivion is just fine. So, why remake that one first

I trust the Skyblivion devs more than Bethesda. Reason being, is Skyblivion's team is coming from a deeper place of passion. They're doing this for free. They've been working on it consistently for years and each of their streams is just a heartfelt passion project filled with questions, answers, and feedback from the community on what they could do to make it better. It looks absolutely beautiful and what new additions they've added seem to be all immersive and dedicated to giving us both a new and familiar experience. Meanwhile, I feel Bethesda are too corporate structured and would simply copy/paste Oblivion and raise the resolution or some crap. I mean sure, it's nice for diehard traditionalists, but I feel in that case we can just go back and play the OG.

Unfortunately, I didnt know anything about the Elder Scrolls universe and didnt play RPG's until Skyrim. I worked at Electronic Arts and there was of course a lot of buzz about the upcoming Skyrim release. I bought Skyrim, played it, was blown away and found a new love in RPG's. Unfortunately I put a lot of time into Skyrim before trying Oblivion and I just could not get past the difference in the graphics. Skyrim spolied me. I ended up returning Oblivion and playing more Skyrim. I still go back to Skyrim. If they totally remake and not just remaster Oblivion, I will definitely try it. My only obstacle is having to buy an Xbox. I still only have a PS4, trying to save for a PS5. In other words, I may never get a chance to play it even if it does get remade.

Super switch is the only thing they can call it everything else is a fail.
Is it only me who sees a pattern with Nintendo.
Which is theyre not great with following up a great console. with the snes being the exception.
DS best selling console ever. 3DS. meh.
Wii best selling console of that gen
Wii U there worse selling console everry.
They innovate. then when its time it iterate they drop the ball.
They bring out a product too close to the last one with confusing marketing which means it doesn't sell as well
I can see the superswitch being the same thing it looks too much like a switch and offeres the same thing. so it doesn't sell.

Here is something that gaming journalists should learn about games. Now I don't know if this is the case with STALKER 2 but a lot of games are binarized in a way that makes it impossible to make tiny changes in their worlds. Like, you want to change the location of a tiny rock Deal, you just have to rebinarize the entire game again and ship it as a patch.
Code changes are different, they usually result in tiny patches. That's how some companies make small patches when doing world fixes. The game loads the world and a hard coded script tells the engine to move the rock to a new place, before it's ever visualized.

I don't believe Nintendo when they say the Switch 2 is not far. Because they said the 2DS will not have a clamshell version, I buy one, then they release an XL version that closes up cheaper than the 3DS XL. I do hope its far though, with all the fatigue and saturation going on in the market I am nowhere done with my Switch Lite, not to mention I have a lot of things in my 3DS that I never played due to there never being anything on sales on Nintendo first party titles; same for Switch sales on first party titles are so rare and uninteresting I'm waiting to borrow or buy used (but the MIG Switch killed that option.

Can we please -lease demote remakes and stop the company’s just grabbing money at this point for lack of time and ideas, only the cream of the past games should be remade and with backwards gaming now all the remakes that drop are killing the market development in my view and we suffer with games not being streamlined in development and completion state on release and higher game prices with less products that are finished, one day people will wake up and the arse will fall out the company’s as they have limited new content in the making meaning more time between games

We had two Gamestops for a small city (70K pop, one closed a long while back, the other is holding on by a thread purchasing and selling YuGiOh! cards and iPhones. It's sad in a way, I have a lot of good memories, getting the latest Game Informer magazine, heading down to my Gamestop (I say Gamespot all the time too, Jake) and waiting on line with my buddies the midnight of hugely anticipated releases back when I preordered games for the Xbox 360. Ubisoft was making slam dunk after slam dunk. Simpler times.

Thanks for mentioning that: I also immediately thought of and actually worried for Skyblivion. Also, if Bethesda had any shred of common sense they would just licence that project and pay the team behind it.
On an unrelated note, Game Spot can surely thank tech journalists and PC makers for telling everyone that blueray players are pointless and physical media belong in the past. Try buying a game these days: all you can do is pay for a licence to play and own nothing. Such a great plan!

I was an assistant manager at a GameStop up until the start of 2020 when I left to pursue better opportunities. The manager there is one of my best friends to this day, and I have tried many times convincing him to walk away and get paid what he's worth but he's good at what he does and he loves doing it. It makes me sad every time they announce the company is failing because I worry about him. His store is thriving, but the stress of the company overall weighs on him heavily.

Screw Gamestop. I've been a member for about 20 years, and they have consistently reduced member benefits and taken away options that made me want to be a member in the first place. Don't blame it on the market or the internet. If they hadn't sucummed to corporate greed and kept member perks in tact they would be doing better even now. I'm done with them and have exclusively gone to buying games on the PS network(they have great deals on games. Good riddance.

Gamestop started to go to s when it switched from EB Games. They then stopped caring about games and more about merch. The majority of stores around here are more merch than games. The higher ups also only care about selling memberships. The last time I bought something was over three years ago and the employee was so focused on selling me a membership that he forgot to ring me up for a big item. I went back and told him, but GEESH.

I can’t be the only one that thinks Oblivion was better than Skyrim I’ve heard people say that Oblivion is more generic fantasy, but there’s just something about it, the more vibrant color palette, the variety of monsters, going to the Oblivion Realm, I just liked it more. It’s be cool if we could go back, but with new gameplay mechanics and maybe some immersive simulation elements brought over from Dishonored.

I’m playing Mario Kart 8. I want to play some stuff on my PS4 but the Switch being portable really makes it easier to make the opportunity to turn something on, play for 30 minutes, and then immediately put the console in sleep mode if I have to put it aside. There’s not any clutter besides the Switch itself if I forget to put it up to charge and it doesn’t take up a lot of space.

Older Elder Scroll in unreal engine 5 would be cool as tech demo from many creatives already shown it can be done better than Bethesda creation engine. At least, that's with the environmental world building look of it all.
Older fans and modders may not like it as much though as they are use to the creation engine for this long now in my eyes. Lol.

An Oblivion remake would be great. I’ve been thinking about replaying it recently, but I’m going to hold off. I’d much rather have a Morrowind remake. That game is so outdated, but also has amazing potential and has such an in-depth world that I’d love to explore with a render distance more than 30 feet in front of you.

Oblivion blew my mind when it came out. I remember completely filling the basement of my Anvil house with nothing but gems and rare items to the point I could no longer enter the basement. Though I will never forgive Bethesda for drastically dumbing down the graphics and horse armor starting a shit DLC trend. lol

It’s either Skyrim or oblivion - the most remade, remastered, repurchased game ever made! Once you’ve done it once, you’ve done it! No need to replay unless you want to change your approach but it will still play out the same! They are milking this more than a brothel milking men!

I sold my PS5 2 weeks ago, gaming sucks. It’s all remakes and remasters nothing new I loved oblivion and I can still go back on my Xbox and play that and Morrowind. the sad state of game devs relying on old IPs is crazy. Can we maybe get a new game that has cool stuff in 2025
