I am someone who enjoyed the base game despite the rough edges and formulaic design. The world design was outrageous. The DLC were both improvements story wise. I did NG in 3rd person which felt great and I enjoyed it more that way than a FPS game. The new dlc though is a whole other level. The cinematic moments are top notch, the story is way better, and the QoL improvements are massive. If you haven't played this game it is definitely worth checking out, it has tons of great content, and if you can max out the graphics it is one of the best looking games ever made. I was actually surprised with how good the new DLC was, it is its own new little game. One note that he didn't mention about 3rd person and the additional animations is that they literally facial mapped your character talking, every single line of script in the game. that actually blew me away and is no small feat for a game that was FPS, you can turn your camera and watch your character vocalize every line in the game!

This game is an outlier in my catalog. I don’t like open world games. But this is the only open world that I play leisurely. Turn off the Hud and pointers. I just wander around and enjoy the sights. Generally once i get bored with game i never boot it up again. And I certainly don’t play this regularly, but i leave it installed. Because occasionally when i can’t decide what to play, i can always just spend an hour or two in Pandora, and it’s beautiful. I even enjoy the cooking. Which i hate in games. If i could have turned it off in BoTW i might of finished it. Anyhow. I recommend it.

I really love Avatar frontiers of pandora! All with the looks are totally unique, sure, the battles are similar to Far cry, as you say, but I love all of Far cry too!
I get blown away more often then I have ever been in a game.
Not even Red Dead Redemption 2 is so beautiful as Pandora.
And yes, I love Red Dead too, so in my thinking, Red Dead and Pandora is in almost the same class with how beautiful it looks.
I gonna fix this DLC too when I get some money, cus I have all other things to this game already. So ofc do I need this too

I can't get into this game. 70 hour work weeks aside, the main story forces hunting and crafting to progress which I don't love. I spent an hour looking for bark just to make a wrist band to progress. Never found it and it was the only hour I had to play on that particular day. I just wanted to do avatar stuff, fly around and fight sky people.
Over the holiday weekend I'll try to get back into it. Especially after having just watched the entire trilogy over the past few days. I really want to immerse myself in the world of Pandora.

11: 26 I saw Fire & Ashes in theaters yesterday. I was wondering if Frontiers of Pandora had more areas to explore in the world and if you learned something new about the lore (so to know if it is worth buying. I appreciate your review of this DLC and the base game 2 years ago. This is already similar to other games I’ve played, but the mechanics and visuals are usually not enough to draw me in; story and world building is what seals the deal for me

I just wish this game had more battles with friendly npcs. Everything feels like just a solo when the cutscenes and story, and movies always emphasize the importance of not fighting alone so being by yourself in the every combat encounter seems at odds with the themes of Avatar. Talking about the base game idk about the dlcs but this video starts with an actual battle but i think its safe to assume thats the only time that happens in the whole game

Is the combat in this game bad or am I doing something wrong You do not get enough health and there are very little ways to outrun bullets without hiding in corners, or taking two hours per base because I have to slowly stealth through the entire thing.
I’ve completed the game, but it wasn’t fun to do. There must be something that I’m doing wrong. I heal my character but it may as well not matter due to how brittle they are when shot.

I bought From the ashes and now im struggling to go back to the base game after I finished it. I'm obsessed with how So'leks fighting style feels so fluid and how convenient the ikran calling mechanic is. There was also so many cutscenes which was something completely missing from the base game. Absolutely loved it. It's chalked full of mechanics that should've been in the base game period.

Very disappointed by Ubisoft (not by the expansion, because people like me who bought Avatar Ultimate edition expected to receive this content for free, not for additional charge of 25. They even removed today (21. 12. 2025) the Ultimate edition from the store. Ubisoft will remain same greedy company. At least AC: Mirage DLC was for free and it has very good content.

I just got the base game and it’s awfully boring. I’m 5 hours in and i’m just going through slop. I die instantly in 1 or 3 shots (level gating) to the point where i had to lower my difficulty. There are also too many damn map markers, quests it’s all so overwhelming. Nothing feels satisfying. Am i doing something wrong
Do I have to do all the quests etc

the original was a great game with a lot of depth, some of the charicters were a bit wet but overall one of the best games i have played, and a teknical marvel even Digital foundry named it game of the year for perfomace and grahficks.
i hve played a lot of games over the last 5 years and this game is doing stuff that should not be possable.

Just got this dlc and it’s shockingly better than the base game. Cutscenes are some of the best I’ve seen from Ubisoft across all their titles and the graphics, lighting, and art style is significantly improved over the base game which was already fantastic. Avatar is now unironically the best Far Cry game in years

Dude I don't know how you can say that this game is fun I played the base game and if the dlc is anything like it, I'd recommend not buying it at all. The story is bad, the gameplay is bad, the world looks and feels like trash. The third person movement seems like it was designed by the intern at Ubisoft. DON'T BUY THIS GAME!

I got the Deluxe Edition from an Xbox sale back in August. I literally needed an Avatar fix fron watching the trailer of Fire and Ash! Series X|S base game and the season pass for the 2 DLCs for 32 dollars! Unfortunately From the Ashes is not part of the season pass which I would have to pay for it.

Just funny how people think that Ubisoft can’t make a good game. Yes, they rehash the same formula over and over but they can be fun games. Are they my favorites Not by a long shot but they’re just those types of games where if I’m bored and the game is on sale I’ll give it a shot

I don’t get the hate for Ubisoft. For a father with a busy work schedule and dad duties, so what if they hold your hand. I’m not wanting to spend my free time spending said time back tracking. It’s a good game for those of us who grew up, or those who just want to have fun.

This actually looks fire. No pun intended. All I wanted from this game was what the old one had, 3rd person, melee (they can still add) and that human side you could play. If this dlc is a step in the direction. Itd be nice if in a new dlc they add the humans and remaining melee weapons.
reply

I hope they continue making more DLC’s, would love one based around Way of the Water.
Also very glad that the facial animations are improved a heap in cutscenes with Ashes. Feels like the good old Ubisoft is back, where they used to care about making a good product.

When Ubisoft released their major update that included the third person, they also messed up the game for a lot of the gamers myself included. I had 14 crashes within 4 hours to the point of the game not even opening on my XBox Series X.
reply

Ubisoft gets a lot of hate, but they just stay true to their formula if it works, it works. People expect extreme innovation every time a company makes a game. Why not just let them do what they’re good at This is classic Ubisoft.
