Liu Kang Kills Shang Tsung Comparison - Mortal Kombat 1 Vs MK11 Lardo137: Looks like Liu Kang actually only became stronger with time once he got his Titan status back, while Shang Tsung either stagnated or remained the same. Which makes sense.
To a selfish schemer like Shang Tsung, once he attained ultimate power, there was no way he would permit even the slightest potential threat to his rule. He would never put himself into a position where he would be at risk of harm to preserve his own existence. He wouldn't have empowered his Geras. He wouldn't have given up his Titan powers, and thus have no real peers to train or spar against. He wouldn't even really fight - not when scheming and backstabbing were his bread-and-butter.
To be clear, this doesn't make Shang Tsung weak by any means. In his version of events, he defeated Liu Kang 1v1, that's a hell of a feat. But compared to Liu Kang, who continued to test himself, remained vigilant in Earthrealm's defense, and was humble enough to agknowledge the possibility of failure and defeat, Shang Tsung was simply woefully unprepared.

Kronika took me DAYS on hard mode, MK1 Shang Tsung took two tries. I legitimately didn-t know I was even on the final fight yet because it didn-t feel like a NRS boss. The injustice and Mortal kombat bosses have always been someone you-ve never fought before, or at least a leveled up version, like Corrupted Shinnok, Brainiac, Kronika. This was just like the 5th time we fought Shang Tsung, and it was even easier since you get to pick your fighter.
I loved the first two chapters of the story, probably my favorite MK storytelling EVER. But man they kinda fell off during chapter 3 and went off the rails on chapter 4. What a shame. Still a good game tho!

Shang Tsung had everything in his lap, everything, and still he was just that petty and spiteful that the mere notion of any reality where he wasn't the winner insulted him enough to try and screw it over - which, natch, wounds up with him screwed over by his own hubris.
You know, sometimes the greatest battles you win are the ones you never even fought.

I feel like Liu kang is an asshole in this game. He ruined Shang and Quan-s lives to neutralise the threat but why didn-t he just give them a different upbringing, to teach them humility and respect, instead of giving them crappy lives and having them do immoral things to get by? In this timeline he-s definitely the bad guy.

I-m a bit sad about Shang Tsung, because that was the original Shang Tsung that we-ve known for more than 30 years, the end of an era if you think about it, now we are stuck with Liu Kang-s Shang Tsung, which I don-t mind, just bummed that the Shang Tsung that we-ve grown to hate is gone forever

This is the same Liu Kang and Shang Tsung fighting btw. Both endings from the Aftermath are canon in MK1. Which honestly is pretty cool. Now, they probably couldn't use Cary's face and so they just reused the new one that they have but let's just say that he made himself look younger. -

Now I am curious to know if there IS a timeline somewhere where Kronika succeeded and have rebuilded her own. Can't rule out the possibility now that we have multi-verse involved with all MK 11 endings as canon. Who's to say the one where Kronika kills Lie Kang is not one of them.

This is the second time the deadly alliance got there ass kicked by Liu Kang. They barely won the last time too. Always right before Liu Kang delivers a finishing blow somebody hits him with magic from behind.

Shang Tsung is badass idc what people think of him i think his ending is more reasonable one sure he badguy but he in control while liu kang give every person a brainwash start

Shang Tsung lost to PLOT. He had absorbed the souls of Shao Khan, Sindel, Fujin, Raiden and Kronika. He was the definition of overpowered and THEN on top of all that he becomes a Titan

Shang Tsung Mk11 looks sinister, with many experiences but is easier to defeat, Shang Tsung Mk1 (2023) looks younger, immaturity but hard to defeat,

MK 1-s final battle is disappointing. I was expecting a clash between two Titans that could rip the entire realm apart. NRS needs to fix that!

I love the style of editing because there-s all this elaborate grandstanding, and then a single punch knocking them onto their backside

Titan Shang Tsung caused his own downfall. By betraying his alternate self, the latter decided to help Liu Kang out of revenge.
reply

Not as epic as aftermath but i like that liu kangs final battle is a mix of deadly alliances intro and deceptions intro battles
reply

i just realized liu kang doesn't need the crown to use the hourglass in mk1. was it explained why? or is it another plot hole?
reply

Lui Kang: no more timelines will be twisted by your evil
Kronika (new era): I beg to differ you demigod

reply

May titan shang tsung has gone, but remember shang tsung from his timeline (fire god liu kang) still remain.
reply

Since their battle have ripped apart time-s fabric, we can see the endless possibilities of the MK multiverse.
reply

Why didn-t he just wipe em away the first time ----- MK1 stories always be dumb asf and y-all love it
reply

It's weird how in the ending scene the timeline and the pyramid was just fine and Liu left Jaxx behind.
