Would be more helpful if you showed more on where you placed your DSLR in relation to where the laptop is? Because it's complicated to look at the camera lens and the laptop screen together. My Canon 28mm f2. 8 wasn't good enough. I know this video was from 2 years ago. I feel like using phone as a webcam has been a simpler option. I use the IVCam app and it lets me adjust the iso, wb, focus and exposure. Changing the white balance helps. Nothing worse than a webcam that makes yourteeth look yellow. The only thing I don't like about using my phone is I can't use my phone for note taking during meetings while using it as a webcam.

I am trying to optimally grab my gear within $1000 along with a single kit lens, maybe a hundred dollars give or take, in that regard, my options as available in my region are XT30, M6 MKII, Z50 & A6400. It would mean a world to me if you could help me decide my first ever gear. My focus is purely image quality, I am not weighing on video capabilites much, I prefer my smartphone and action cam for that.
Cheers & thanks in advance!
apologies if I have posted this in any other video of yours.
please note that i am stepping up from an iphone with no prior experience with any DSLRs or Mirrorless

For anyone who has a DSLR but doesn't want to get a capture device: if your camera has a USB data port (for offloading photos and videos usually) there is software that will let you use your DSLR as a webcam via USB cable. I use SparkoCam for my Nikon DSLR and the quality is fine for video calls/streaming. The dummy battery AC power adapter was cheap, but a little hard to find

The older guy giving advice to the younger guy, it's so ironic, the picture from the older guy looked so grey and lifeless, it was hard to watch. The younger guy had more dynamic light (just in drastically wrong places, that's all, more color, I think he should have been the one giving advice. How to have more than just a couple shades of drab.

Wifi smart led bulbs from GE or Feit are about $10, are dimmable, you can tune the color temp, and even make them any color you want, saving you on extra dimmer switches/lamps and multiple bulbs for day or night setups. The Feit's, found at Lowes are typically cheaper than other brands.

Some great content but had to give the video a thumbs down. All there were far too many mid roll ads. This broke up the flow of the video and made it look cheap. It is as if your only after the ad CPM and sponsor money and not creating the excellent content you were know for.

I notice that almost ALL Hollywood folks I see interviewed including your guest here. almost always are wearing the basic AirPods but not the AirPod pros. I thought it was odd. I wonder why? Are they better Penny pinchers than me? Or is there any tech or audio advantages?

If your using a Canon DSLR download the EOS Webcam software from their website. I have a 90D and a 6Ti that work great in zoom. Also using a 18-35 f: 1. 8 lens. I always get asked how did I get my video to look so professional. Great vid

unfortunately my earbuds have a different connector now, and I can't use them in my computer. I hate wearing headsets. Will I need to switch to a regular microphone?
what kind of mic would you recommend for making videos?

One webcam hack that I found out that was really useful is to use your phone camera. There are apps that allow you to use your phone as a web cam and most phones have pretty good cameras on them these days.

A smart bulb can go a long way too, rather than having to switch out for different temperature /color.
We use Kasa, and smart bulbs, and you can switch out the color and brightness really easy.

Imagine the pressure Larry Fong feels when Zooming with people, knowing that they know he is a professional cinematographer for big Hollywood movies? Imagine the expectations he has to fulfill?

I will designate one of my rooms in a 1BR apartment and transform it into a TV studio so that people on Zoom don't judge me for my harsh background lighting. Got it. Thanks.

11: 50 you CAN plug a camera straight into your laptop/PC. You just need a software like Sparkocam to get the image you get from the camera (and that's gonna be 1080p.

I feel like if your buying an expensive ass lens for a webcam you might be better off just buying a better decent webcam instead of using the inbuilt ones

this really could save people incl myself, a lot of money! But how about the AC sound. How to make sure it's not disturbing the audio?
thank you: D

reply

Not a lot of money. what mushrooms the dude has eaten on left side? Canon 6D MKII costs 1600 euros and that is over half of normal monthly salary.

Advisor: So I think we can use a Red camera now to make it look even better.
This guy: Yeah I have one of those lying around at the office.

We'll show you how you can get this look with thongs you already have!
shows things they likely don't have
Still, great help for people!
