Pac-Man: Everyone's doing it! Here's a quick review of: Pac-Man Ms. Pac-Man Lock 'n Chase Mouse Trap Alien The goal of these experimental videos is to see how quick I can crank out a review after a long day at work, with about one minute reviews based on a theme of games (this one is games that are based on Pac-Man/maze games

Funny episode. The first game he was explaining was bad. I played the 2600 -Pac-Man- and it wasn't that good. Some people thought it was good, but this was nowhere near as the arcade game. -Ms. Pac-Man- was another example of a good Atari game and it was decent port of an arcade sequel to -Pac-Man-. -Mouse Trap-, never heard of, -Lock 'n Chase-, never played it, and -Alien-, a good game, and also another great -Pac-Man- style game for the 2600 by 20th Century Fox, and it has nothing to do with the 1979 sci-fi horror flick, and it's still a great game.
There were other -Pac-Man- on different consoles. One was called -KC Munchkin- (not KC and the Sunshine Band) but that one, that was for the Odyssey 2, and also -Taxman- (not the title of a song by the Beatles, and that was for the Apple II computer by HAL, the same developer who did the -Kirby- games, and a few others of many consoles.

As a kid. EVEN though the arcade wars had it become 20 tokens/$1. 00. VCS/2600 Pac-Man was WANTED and LOVED by myself & all my friends. It being multi-player allowed for LESS arguments on who got to play next. we would have 4-6 kids waiting to play. We had SO MUCH fun with the Asteroids -conversion- that we knew Pac-Man wouldn't be an exact MIGHTY ARCADE version(the head turn on eating ghosts. facing right. was my only gripe. If they had released Pac-Man similar to the later Ms. Pac-Man(-Pac-Man 4K- at Atari Age. it would have caused us all to be speechless BECAUSE we wouldn't have thought it possible.

The first Pac Man I played was the Atari 2600 port and I became quite good at it. When I finally played it on an arcade machine (I know I was late to the party, but my only access to arcade games were in the Wal Mart foyer, which at that time were all games you could find on the NES such as Castlevania, and Pizza Hut, which didn't change over to a Pac Man machine until the early 90s) I couldn't get past the first level. Everything moved too fast and the ghosts were more aggressive than I could handle.
In other words, for years the Atari 2600 port was the only Pac Man I liked.

I think that the 2600 version brings back the most nostalgia for me. Some how we ended up with 5 carts of it and this was when Atari 2600 games were still sold so quite a bit of cash there. I didn't find it too bad but it was the first one I played.
Also, by the year 2009 you had never seen Alien? Does your religion forbid it? You're not one of those nut jobs that believes Aliens are God and you can't watch any negative media about them are you? If that cult exists anyway. ..

Summer of 1982 I got poison ivy by pissing in a pile of it in the woods. -. I was stuck at home poison ivy covering my crotch belly up my neck and all over my face. It was miserable. with my Atari and had 2 games Combat and that first Pic Man. I played it so much I was able to turn the score over. Meaning the score could only go so high it had to start over. For one summer with a crotch full of ichyness I was still king of the Atari in my neghborhood.

I like this video but to me it always seemed a little incomplete. Plus, the angry persona he's trying to portray doesn't seem to really fit him, especially if you've seen his later videos. I'd love for him to re-do this with his current review style and his current video recording equipment and techniques. And while he's at it, throw in Jawbreaker for the 2600. That is one of the better Pac-Man clones for the console.

Funny thing is, Mouse Trap and Lock 'n Chase were also arcade games. In the former, you play as the thief Lupin, robbing banks while avoiding the cops. Never played the Apple ][ or IBM versions, but I can definitely say graphically, the Intellivision port of L'nC is pretty danged close to the arcade game. Mouse Trap. eehhh. get it on the ColecoVision instead of the Mattel console.

Heh, the flickering ghosts look way worse in this video than I recall them. The 2600 only had two sprites, so they could only show Pacman and one ghost at a time. So they cycled through the ghosts for every frame. At 50 fps PAL that's not too bad, but after all sorts of nasty conversions and YT, you miss so many frames that it looks ridiculous: )

I don't know why everybody hates thge Atari 2600 pacman game. I actually thought it was a blast when I was a kid. I actually tripped the score counter back to 0 on it. Somehow I always felt the controls where actually better then all the real pacman clones I later played on PC or other consoles. o. O

errr. he was actually trying to defend the 2600! he thought that LGR was making fun of it and tried to defend it by saying dude! this game was made in the 1800s! ofcourse it doesnt look as good as those new games like Halo; ) but apparantly he did not succeed hehe
