This game for me is a shit.
Shitty story; they ruined everything, everything, and the story and plot of the fear series were fantastic.
Shitty level design and AI if those are compared with the first two FEAR.
The gameplay is not funny at all, the feedback when you kill stuff is odd or absent, the weapons are nothing special, the game is extremely linear and repetitive and frustrating because of bad checkpoints and an horrifying cover system.
Last but not least they removed all the horror component from the game.
What a shitty game, i've paid 4- for it and those were not worth it.

Very good and informative review.
I've played through first and second FEAR (second was my favorite) and I do like the series. Though, the third game was very average, at least for me. The most problematinc, was playing on highest difficulty and relying on annoying checkpoints. Blah.
I had exact some -consolization- problem in Sniper Elite V2, where checkpoint placement was sometimes ridiculously spread (second mission or museum, making me actually discontinue it, and thus disliking the game.

This was, hands down, the weakest and lamest FEAR game to date, the expansion packs were, indeed, a lot better.
In fact, I'd go as far as to say that you should ONLY play this if you haven't played the previous titles, as this one will severely let you down, if you were one of the few that hated how FEAR 2 was insanely dumbed down, but liked the atmosphere of the previous titles, forget about this one, It doesn't even carry over half the cinematics, ambience and effects the first OR second one had.

Sad things to point out, I got the retail PC version which requires Steam, which means I can't sell it. Unfortunately, the PC online community is dead and has been since release. I really wish I could trade it in for a console version of this game, but I can't. They need to add dedicated servers to the PC version and stop being so cheap. They didn't even put a manual in with the game. Also, I didn't find any gun that turns people into skeletons in this installment.

-NightOfTheLiving8bit Pretty much non-existent. There are a few moments that try to make you jump when something pops up in front of you, but it's just the same old stuff we've seen in every other FEAR game.
That said, the action gets very intense and the enemy spawn points and movements vary each time you play! It varied things enough to keep me interested for the 6 or so hours the game lasts.

Here is my opinion of fear 3. it is a great game, of course it isnt as good as the first one but still its a really great game. What buggs me is that like many games that get co-op for the first time, this game focused way more around co-op gameplay then single player. Its great that they got co-op dont take me wrong BUT still i always think that single player should be the whats best in a game

FEAR 2 was painful for me, it killed the franchise imo. FEAR 1 was so atmospheric and really if you payed attention to it had a really powerful story to. But like I said, the ambiance was amazing, walking around a deserted office complex with only the sound of your footsteps and the hum of the central air. epic. The sequels seemed to have just thrown that away.

Looks like they put in bloody screen and regenning health too, judging from the review footage. I liked how FEAR 1 did it the best. If you get below 25 health you regen, but nothing past that. Shame they took out all the horror elements too, that was one of the best things about the first one. I never played the second one, so I can't compare it to that.

Fear 1 was a great game, moody and atmospheric. I didn't really care too much for Fear 2, both of which I played on the PC. I think those games were made for the PC. Fear 3. I'm not sure if I would rush out and buy it, It is one of those games I'll just wait until its been out a while and buy pre-owned. Great review.
