Hah, happens I just bought myself a chair yesterday. Spend quite a bit time to look around and investigate about chairs, I was simply done with the 200-300$ chairs and wanted a proper one. Very quickly it was apparent that you won't get good chair if you go under 1000$, but I just wanted a basic chair, no need for all the neck supports and other nice things. You can get quite good idea of the quality of chair if you look how long warranty they offer for them, good chairs have 5 year or longer warranty period. Bought myself a Kinnarps 6000, after sitting on it for a day I can say that if it stays in one piece its worth the price, I got it for half price as it had been in showroom use, it retails for 840$ and its very basic model. WORTH THE MONEY, damn it just supports all the right places and every part feels and looks very sturdy and high quality, everything is made out grom metal, very little plastic.

I have some more bad news for you: I got one of these (slightly different model) and after maybe 6-9 months one of the armrests snapped off at the bolt - something I couldn't repair on my own, so I got a replacement from them. 4-5 months later, the height adjustment of the back broke, which was a big deal for someone almost 2m tall who always had it on the highest setting. Another 3 months later and the back angle adjustment gives out too, making the chair completely unusable - unless I wanted to type while laying down, anyway. Oh, and one of the arms broke again but I was able to get the bolt out that time.
I was really disappointed that something I paid $400 for broke so many times in such a relatively short time. The mesh back and seat were amazing for the summer heat of Australia, but they don't do me much good now.

i just buy cheap chairs for 200$ or less. I go to a store. sit in all their chairs and pick the best ones with in my price range. tho I did debate getting one that was nearly 300$ but decided it was not really worth the money. I am quite on the poor side so i got to think about my purchases a bit longer than most. Sometimes though. you can find some nice office chairs at goodwill of all places. my sis got a really nice one there. it was an older style canvasy fabric covered one but it was quite comfy and was well cushioned. I still think it was only donated away because it wasn't stylish anymore lol. paying 600$ on a chair is just mind boggling to me.

This chair certainly might feel great and the armrests might feel cheap but even the herman miller aeron arm rests lose their locked position easily and you will have to lock them every hour or two for double the price of that chair. However the multilock mechanism NEVER unlocks or changes without you making it do so. Your butt and back will feel like you're sitting on a cloud for the first six months and then you will get used to it after that, then other chairs will feel like crap while the herman miller aeron just feels normal. First world problems.

ALL these office chairs are so marked up for the materials involved I mean it's not like their manufacturing requirements are any higher than some other thing like it. Not saying paying a little more for a good one doesn't get you better quality but that's just it. The bottom barrel chair like the one shown being $400 the premiums are gonna be in the thousands. Using a couple square yards of good material instead of crap and a better metal rod and base doesn't justify the prices for the better units ever either.

best chair i ever had was solid wood it did take 6 people to move the thing lol it had a 1950-s look to it build is heater and mulit point massage with a cup holder. I have never seen a chair that great again: ( wish i never got rid of it.
Why do chairs cost so much i do not understand how it is 600$ for that price i would want it to be Titanium are chrome are such with solid gears and leavers not mostly hard plastic with solid wheels that is a deal breaker.

I got a even better chair for about the same price.
I bought a 24/7 ergonomic chair that had been used for two weeks, for about $700 not including VAT. (A new chair costs, $1400/1800 not including vat)
A chair is probably one of the most important things in a office, so a chair built for the use is useful. So if somebody is using it a couple of hours a day i cheap chair should be adequate.

Being a small person(4 10-, 110lb) who's not a little person, with spinal problems. A perfect chair is hard to come by. I haven't bought an office chair. I was just given a huge one by my aunt and traded with my brother for his smaller one. I threw one of them sit up pillows in it and it work alright. 600 on a chair is a bit crazy though. BTW I love your chair jokes.

$600 for a chair. sure no problem, i can see that, but when you didn't point out any heating or massaging ability or any built in gaming rumble or dolby digital audio system i wondered. how is this $600? but if i were going to drop $600 on a char, I now know it won't be this chair, to many problems, thx for the awesome review LCR =D

My experience from many years of office work: try to spend near $1000. I wish I had listened to my back early on. Even with a -$500 chair, it's only good for 3-4 hours max. Office chairs are often rated in hours. The best char I ever had was at an office where they spent $1500 to keep you sitting and productive all day.
