Wizard's Crown is, I believe, the first game put out by the team that would later do the gold box series. They went more tactical than the other fantasy games that were being put out at the time. Shard of Winter is the sequel to that game. I think the ssi game with the goofy demon might actually be the 3rd and last in that series.
Its too bad the Intel PC clones had such crappy graphics back in the 80's. Put me off going into the clone pc's for most of the 80's until Railroad Tycoon came out. After that pretty much pc from then on(graphics really got better.

this is when gaming was about passion and immersion. It's truly astonishing, i've learned so much about games and historic games. it really puts everything in to perspective. Nowadays, games are made for making money, not for passion, not for thrilling gameplay. Do you think EA's CEO gives a shit about gaming? Of course not.
I love this and I'm sad that I missed it. I grew up playing the N64, PS1, gamecube, PS2, Xb360 and then moved over to PC. Absolutely magnificent, thanks for the video even if it is a year old almost.

A thought about the -text adventure- games you wanna do.
Why not do a -history of- or something of the sort where-in you have them in a veiw video's and you and some freinds talk about your experinces with the games.
I mean I'd love to see a bunch covered like that and thought's from people you know who've played them and how ya'll felt about that kind of thing, espcially with what history is behind such games to.

I wonder how much those games would cost these days. That may be quite an expensive gift.
Cinemaware games often looked better than they actually were. Defender of the crown for instance is just a collection of a handful of minigames. Sure, it looked cool, but the game lacked in depth when it came to game mechanics.

Is that Koei game a fore-runner of the Dynasty Warrior series?

The handwriting of the original owner marks him most likely as an engineer. Before CAD, engineering students had to have a lot of drafting classes including ink lettering resulting in some sublime penmanship from that generation. They could also sketch 3 dimensional assembly drawings on the backs of napkins.

Ah, these videos make me think I'm 11 again and I'm buying games for my Tandy 1000 EX back in '87. In particular, I remember seeing the box art for Times of Lore and Dragon Wars as a kid in the store and I remember a huge magazine article about Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I owned Y's and loved it to death.

my family had loads of these old games and either trashed them in a big black sack or gave them to the charity stores! they did that because they were old and nobody played them and it was before the whole Nostalgia is cool trend came into the picture. Consoles, games, their original boxes, all trashed.
