Reading some comments, and laughing. first up -Real men- don't LIKE hard wood, they just have hard wood.
-Sustainable-, green, and -eco-friendly- are simply words created to make a few people (Al Gore and the ilk) very rich while you fork over your money to -save the planet-. All of these years of recycling, only to find out we just ship our recycled material to China so they can sell us more crap. and the cycle continues.
Hmmm, no one sees a problem here? Maybe that's why -global warming- was suddenly switched to -climate change-.
After working with many types of wood (and handcrafting electric guitars, I can tell you both bamboo and walnut are very much on the cheap side. There is nothing special here. in fact the joined sides look really shoddy and just prove they are being as cheap as possible. This is a rip-off.

I could build a better wooden case in my garage for a LOT less and that includes buying ALL the hardware, tools and materials.
Not to mention that thing is not built well at all, they could at least book match the pieces that make up the panels, preferably use a single piece of wood rather than multiple blocks glued together. Hell, even throwing a nice veneer on the visible surfaces would help. The design is poorly laid out, does not account for thermals properly and blocks the entire rear IO (neater cables. I don't have a single good thing to say about that product except maybe for the fact they used and ASRock ITX board, ASRock's ITX boards are usually very good. As for design, layout and material quality. I wouldn't pay $20 for that case without any hardware in it.

Now this gives me an idea to build one myself since I'm simulor to you LGR I love wood grain an I'm pretty handy with wood work. but if I build one myself it won't have moden internals I probly use a 486 or Pentium 2 or 3. I rather retro style. My Toshiba satellite pro C665 running Windows 7 won't run my favor duke nukem 3d for it frezzes near the end of level 1 or In the toilet part where you turn the corner an into the bathroom very annoying but it plays doom2 in the dos box just fine but can't run duke3d in the dos box saying can't do fullscreen mode but when i get it working in the dos box there only music no sound

If you think its overpriced, you don't value woodworking. A Dell is overpriced. This is function inside art. This case would take me at least a month to make. It doesn't take much to punch out/bend/cut/drill sheet metal and bake on some power coat paint. They should have done a better job of matching the finish of all the pieces. I don't expect the grains to match up, but different shades look like crap. I bet most people that say this is overpriced are using the same mass produced cold rolled steel and plastic Chinese cases my broke ass is using.

I also dislike the 'gamer' aesthetic. I prefer a cleaner, simpler case design, like the inwin 303 or nzxt s340 elite. No bright colors, ugly angles, or cheap plastic. Just a simple, yet bold aesthetic, made of quality materials. I do prefer bare metal, powder coated metal, or anodized aluminum over wood though. I'd only get a wood grain pc to match my retro technics stereo and the two polk audio speakers (all from the 70s) that go with it in my workshop audio setup, but I don't need a pc on that setup.

Cool. I had no idea Computer Direct made their own stuff like this. I live in Greenville, so I just know them as -that computer place at the end of Haywood Road. - We bought a bunch of cheap custom PCs from them for the schools I work with a few years ago. They were not great, but they were building as a sub contractor for another vendor who was just going for the low bid, so I can-t fault them for skimping on the QC.

Not gonna lie to you, I just finished building my first gaming rig and while I was building it I STRONGLY considered cannibalizing a old PC case I had and using some of its parts along with the abundance of scrap wood at my granddad's house to try and build my own wood grain PC case, sadly though I didn't have the time so I had to just buy a decent budget case instead.

I'd prefer a simpler case than what most gaming PCs provide. Heck, you can put a modern PC into an Atari system or a dead-as-hell CD-I and I'll be fine (SOMEBODY DO EITHER! That being said, I prefer mechanical keyboards, preferably the one you're using in your intro. I feel like I make a few less mistakes and type slightly faster on a mechanical keyboard vs. a digital one.

This is really good craftsmanship and design. Don't forget that the parts they've included in the system are worth a solid $1500 on their own. Charging another thousand or so for someone to hand-craft the case and assemble it is perfectly reasonable to me. I wish they'd sell it as a standalone empty case with guidelines on how to assemble it with your own hardware.

This might be a matter of aesthetic taste. But for 3. 000 dollars the case seems a bit cheap. The Idea itself is cool, but from this video it looks like they just fitted some scrap pieces of wood together, put on some varnish and called it a day. The design has seemingly no thought put into it. It's clean, but it looks pretty boring and bland.
