That Bowie Sound+Vision sealed set was, along with Dylan-s Biograph, among the earliest hits/rarities multi-CD retrospective sets. Sound+Vision was originally put out on the Rykodisc label, which was among the first independent CD reissue companies. Ryko is known for having some of the finest sound available on early audio CDs. In fact, many of their -80s and very early -90s releases are sought after nowadays, due to the superb sound quality that is not dynamically compressed or noise-reduced into oblivion, as is the case with the majority of current rock and jazz CD reissues. Getting to my point, the Bowie set won a well-deserved Grammy for its elaborate and artful packaging that employed screen prints on layered plastic sheets, which gave a unique depth effect. Original pressings, complete, in near-mint condition are very rare and can command big bucks on auction sites. A sealed copy might fetch a very tidy sum.

I think a console stereo furniture thingy is in your future. I was born in '64 and my dad was born in '24. He was all about the console stereos. He loved those things. I thought they were hideous. My idea of a proper hifi was the rack mounted units with the glass door in front. You simply cannot have the components of the tuner touching the amplifier and the tape decks need space to be cool.
Both of these extremes are silly distortions of what a decent sound system could/should be but consumers want what's cool at the time. Goodwill slaps you in the face with how ridiculous these trends really are.

Last night I was watching an episode of LGR Thrifts. Clint mentioned he couldn't remember the last time he watched a dvd.
I put up a comment stating how last week I watched -Doctor Zhivago- (David Lean's, of course) on dvd.
Today I'm watching this episode of LGR Thrifts. Clint comes across a copy of -Omar Sharif Bridge-.
Holy shit.

I think I might know what the deal is with that tiny drier. I saw a documentary one time about hassidic jews and apparently when a lady is on their, you know, special time of the month they have to do their laundry in a different machine. Anyway the family in the documentary had a tiny washer and a tiny drier just for that occasion.

I know you're scrounging for enough to make a video when doing these thrifts. But if it's not interesting enough for you to take home, why bore us with junk that isn't interesting enough for you to care about?
Even if it takes longer to find enough for a video, make it interesting by only showing us the stuff you take home.

Today I picked up 14 pc games including NFS SE and The Sims 1 + living large and hot dates expansion pack. I also got some games that were compatible with Windows 3. 1. But wait.
FOR $3! (This is in Australia so it would be like $1. 50 for you fellow Americans)

OMG Clint, at about ten minutes in, the Panasonic 8 track -- I had that years ago when I was first getting into stereo. It-s actually a recorder and I used to make my own tapes for the 8 track player in my car. Ahh memories. Now - what the heck happened to it?

I imagine the employees at Goodwill look up and see Clint walking up to the store and think -There-s that guy who always stops to look at the rock out front- hell they probably even have bets on what they think he-ll do once he reaches the rock, lol.
